I started during 7th edition, so I've been playing Magic since first grade and am now entering my sophomore year in college. When I started I would play blue/green morph deck that would try and use Scornful Egotist and spells that would utilize high cc's along with Krosan Drover to play big beasties faster.

Currently I have a Legacy Manaless Dredge deck that still needs to be updated to balustrade/Flayer combo (Still just doing beats with Iona/Sphinx/Elesh Norn) and a previously standard blue/white Puresteel Paladin deck (with the the Stoneforge's taken out, of course) plus many more ideas that have only been fleshed out in Cockatrice. I also have a Doran EDH deck that runs Cataclysm, yes I am that guy.

As an EDH/Commander player I, so far, have only made multi-colour decks. A red/black/green Kresh the Bloodbraided deck that's basically "give Kresh evasion, let him get +40/+40 from random creatures dying/sacrificing them myself and let him trample your face" and a blue/green/white Rubinia Soulsinger deck that has random control shenanigans and some big beasties just in case. I'm also making a white/red Iroas, God of Victory deck that's basically a token deck. Maybe I'll make a mono-black deck sometime later this year, when there's money.

I've only been playing for three/four months and it's really a ton of fun. A little expensive, and lord EDH is overwhelming to start Magic with (if one of the cheaper formats) but it was totally worth it. I'm pretty lethal with my Kresh deck, and my Iroas deck is shaping up really nicely.
I too only play edh. I play esper (kind of) control with Oloro the Ageless Ascetic as the commander. My deck revolves mostly around black white Orzhov's extort mechanic. I call the deck Death By A Thousand Cuts. Two cards i really need for this deck are Erebos and Athreos.

I built a mono white, Soldier/Angel deck with Elspeth Tirel as mah Planeswalker

If I get a 'Bad' hand, by turn 4, i've got 5 flying walls, a bunch of 1/1 or 2/2 soldier tokens and i'm running at about 30 life.

If the game drags on, suddenly i've got creature and life advantage by turn 6. Turn 7, if you can't kill Elspeth, i'm board wiping you and killing you with all my tokens, which i'll steroid to 8/8's with lifelink

I haven't lost with that deck yet.

Played against Control, counter, straight removal, RDW, and the deck is too aggressive and too fast. Normally by turn 5 if i'm not dead, you will be.

Haven't played in ages though... I sort of miss it but will probably end up selling my cards shortly.

Funny, I just got back into it recently with two Green/White decks. One was built around Heroics, meaning tokens would be made as their own creatures or placed on the creature you cast a spell on in order to strengthen it. Needless to say, there are several spell cards in this deck for low cost. The other was based around tokens as well, except they were played when other creatures were put into play (Meaning, summoning one creature would instantly make others). It also based heavily around the Convoke ability, meaning you can use creatures as mana by tapping them to summon other creatures. This includes creature tokens made by any means.

Essentially, I made my deck out of these two in order to have a low mana cost that can create far more creatures than the other person can handle, or even put into play himself. I could have three 1/1 creatures, three 2/2 creatures, two 3/3 creatures, one 4/4 creature, and potential for several more 1/1 or 2/2 creature tokens that only cost one or two mana each to play. I can also buff them with spells that boost stats by 3/3 or 4/4 for one turn for one or two mana each (Instant as well), giving me potential to make a heavily powered army, or a wall of creatures that cannot be penetrated.

It's one mighty fun deck so far. Can't wait to work on it some more and make it a true beast <3

I played from 94-2005. I still have my decks. I mostly favored blue. I have a solid of every color I enjoy. Plus an extra red goblin deck. 2 blue decks. Then one of every dual combo except red/blue and red/white. Plus a five color.

I started playing the game around the time the first Duels of the Planeswalkers game came out. Hell my first deck was the Chandra deck. Back when I played though my main deck was mono black vampires that won me 4th place at a local tournament. I stopped playing around Return to Ravnica.

Had a white "tanking" deck back when the Kor damage sharing ability had just come out. Kor plus regeneration/high toughness/prevention. My critters were indestructible before indestructible was a thing . Worked awesome until my way-too-competitive friend decided he didn't want me playing it any more. He lied that the ability had been errata'd out of the game. I had the choice of calling him on his bullshit and losing him as a friend or not playing the deck any more.

My favorite deck was a black-and-blue I called the Bruiser (get it?), later renamed the Trash Picker. Discard + control + counter + graveyard pull. Why do I need good cards when I can use yours against you?

I liked to build decks that did foolish things. Made one I called The Grinder whose purpose was to run out the opponent's library. It didn't win many games but it was fun to watch opponents get nervous as their decks got shorter. Made another that was all life gain. No offense or defense to speak of, just massive, massive life gain. Took a long time for enemies to overwhelm it.

I haven't played in a little while, I tend to play either mono red or red heavy combos.

Just after the first theros set released I made a budget red, blue, white token/ heroic deck. mostly i wanted to try out heroic but i also couldn't say no to the idea of getting purphoros out there and then churning out tokens through akroan crusader and young pyromancer. it was actually a lot of fun to play from what i remember, throw in some good cheap instants and abuse hidden strings to activate heroic as often as possible.

I really do need to find a good FNM in my area.

That sounds like a pretty damn fun deck, might be one I'm gonna make too when I'll make another three colour deck. Well, not that I'll have cash for that

Luckily extort cards aren't expensive and hopefully the commander deck is still for sell at a Wal-mart near you. Though, the commander deck is not that cheap, it did make a good base to start with for me but that's just my 2 cents.

Well, it depends on the format, really.

I've been playing off and on since '94. As such I've experienced the gamut of play styles, combos, strategies, and color splashes. I've played it all from classic mono-blue Top control to Painter combo to tribal Kobold.

That said, the two colors I inevitably return to, for better or worse, are green and artifact. Some of my favorite decks have been built around green and artifacts. From my blue-green Affinity and Pauper Brass Man Affinity decks to my green/black Tooth-and-Nail and green/white Haterator decks.

Okay, granted, artifacts are usually classified as "colorless". Still, I tend to find myself more commonly building green and/or artifact decks when playing casually. Though, I tend to mix these with a splash of blue, black, or white; less commonly with red.

Beyond that I usually turn to some combination with black. Notably blue/black, white/black, or green/black; especially the latter. I do love me some Rock and Dredge decks. And though I'm least interested in red that never stops me from building (and dominating with) mono-red Goblin or All-In Burn decks.

I used to play. When I did,I played either a Blue/Black Control deck that used counterspells and murder spells to keep the other side clean while I plinked them to death,or a Red/Green Aggro/Burn deck, nailing them with big creatures on the cheap from Green, buffing them to Dominara and back, all while throwing out Fireballs and Lightning Bolts and such with reckless abandon.

Although, once,in a twelve player kitchen table match,I pulled a REALLY nasty Green/Artifact combo. Mycosynth Lattice, which turns EVERYTHING into an Artifact, and turns all mana costs into Colourless. Darksteel Forge, making all of my Artifacts indestructible.

And Creeping Corrosion. Destroying all Artifacts. This was fairly late into the game, and people have their big nasty toys out. In one fell swoop,I erased every other side of the table. I laughed like Megabyte that day. Not long after,I stopped playing, since I couldn't really afford to keep up to date on the MtG scene.

I haven't played the card game in many years now, but I play whatever I feel like (both the card game and the digital games).

For the CCG, I start with a concept and ask what the best cards and colours to support it are.

For DOTP, I look at what decks are cool and play them.

I could sit here and argue with myself over which colours I favour, but I basically just did it in my head and all five come up. Though I haven't played a five colour deck since I actually learned how to play, instead of just playing a single starter. So maybe "anything but that."

I played way back in the 90's, but now just play on Duels of the Planeswalkers.

My favorite deck was a blue/black hand destruction (discard) deck. Nowadays I think I'd make a discard/mill deck, maybe based heavily around Dimir.

I'd also like to try and make a green and black deck, maybe even an infect deck. In the early days of Magic Green was really underpowered, but apparently it's made a comeback since then.

Red and Black vampire deck. My strategy is kamikaze, so much life steal, so much first strike or similar. I just attack, attack and attack. Lots of damaging red spells to remove more health from my opponent and a few black to remove pesky monsters and buff my heavy hitters. One Card gives all my vampires first strike and haste, another buffs them all 1/1 and a third makes them all attack with +2 on that turn. If I have to resort to those cards, I am not playing like I should be.

I also have a Black and Blue that has monsters constantly coming back from the graveyard and just won't stay dead and blue spells to keep messing with the enemy. That is less effective and has been banned from use against my wife. Reassembling skeletons for the win(I have 4)

I've got about twenty decks in total, multiple of each colour and a lot of combo colours (most inspired by Ravnica, a few by Alara).
My favourite coour is probably green, though in truth I'll happily use any deck I've encountered thus far. I like green's mana ramping potential and I enjoy the different ways it can run, my favourite deck right now is a cheap buffing green instant deck revolving around a bit of heroic and trample to completely throw people off when they come attacking. I'm sure I'll get bored of it soon though.

I also have a Nicol Bolas centred deck which revolves around stealing everything from everywhere and that's a lot of fun when it starts rolling. I've had an entire table of opponents terrified of the two cards in my hand and not making moves lest they be the target of my wrath which feels pretty thematically on the nose. Especially when their indecision and hesitation means I build enough power that when they finally do try and stop me I crush them all and take everything from them.
It's a fun deck, awful in one on one though unless you get lucky with the ramp, too bulky and slow.

cool to know there are plenty of people still playing on the escapist sucks that its expensive but whatever. When I first started two weeks ago I got a pre-made red blue deck. This deck is of course from the latest core set so the blue and red was tailored to work with each other so this also meant allot of artifacts which would not only buff but would grant things like flying or +2/+0 boosts to monsters it was nice but it didn't feel right so I rebuilt it into red black. The black deck that I bought was an old deck from Mirage era cards. Now my red black with stupid powerful buffs to my already powerful creatures means allot of 7/4s with trample and the like.

I've played magic since innistrad, which is when I started. My colors are usually green and white. I love ether tokens, life gain, flying creatures or mana ramp. Recently for M15 I've been running mana ramp and doing pretty good at it. Green though will always be my color. For the conclave!
