Single player for MW2 does indeed look good...Alas IW have for some reason decided to alienate the a lot of PC gamers (myself included) for some stupid reasons...No leaning!? They've lost my respect and money.

I hate IW. They slap the PC community in the face and then act like we were asking for it. I'm not going to buy another IW game until they apologize and fix the features they broke.
First they slap our pc gaming bretheren, then they slap us 360 gamers too. If i hadnt already paid for my prestige edition, i wouldnt be buying the game.

Not buying the game till they patch it for dedicated servers. Sorry guys, I'll just play the amazing singleplayer at some friends house.

Not really. They've overhyped their game because they know it appeals as much to the 'no brainer' FIFA market as much as it does to the gamers who actually enjoy FPSs. And their churning out of World War 2 after World War 2 game beforehand makes me less than impressed.
Actually Activision wanted to keep them in the WW2 category but IW decided to go for a modern themed game, so your anger should be directed towards Activision.

I was neutral towards Infinity Ward, until I heard that they're dissabling party speak for the multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2, which means that I won't be able to talk to my friends (who've been drooling over this game for months). The party feature is one of xbox live's biggest strongpoints, because it gives live a powerful social aspect, but you're so concerned with a minor improvement to gameplay you got rid of it.

So, Infinity Ward, if by some chance you're listening, I'd just like you to know that you can go and fuck yourselves.
I play the game to play the game, not to talk to my friends. So it's not really a big deal to me if I can only talk to the players on my team.

I respect Infinity Ward as much as I respect any other game developer, no more, no less.

With respect to Modern Warfare 2, I suspect it'll be an enjoyable good game but that's it. My head is unlikely to explode through excitement when I play it but it should be entertaining at least.

As long as the single player is longer than a sneeze this time anyway.

I would say no. They aren't redefining much in the FPS area, just releasing another game for the masses. Sure, some scenes stand out, but its still standard gameplay that just sparks a controversy. Its just the same old play with a new story/maps.

I suggest you put a "They used to be good, but now are shit" option.

I used to have respect for IW up until I read about the "improvements" they made to Modern Warfare 2. I have no respect for the company now, they can die for all I care.

I think if any company deserves my love for pushing the boundaries of game design, it's Rockstar. How Americans are so fine with terrorizing NYC after the whole 9/11 panic, I'll never know.

And it's people like you that let get them get away with this rubbish...

Taking away party chat is a huge step backwards in terms of social gaming, not to mention it demonizes the player who just wants to play CoD (a "popcorn" shooter) with their friends...

And honestly, once you know the context (I've already had it ruined for me) that terrorist act isn't so brilliant...they aren't really pushing any boundaries with this game - it's all very safe. Heck, they knew it would be safe because of the success of their previous game - it's why they've screwed over PC/360 gamers now....

i can't respect them. They are releasing it for the PC on November 11 in Canada. That is our remembrance day. A day where we remember our veterans and fallen soldiers, not play act as them.

The only thing I respect is that they had the balls to make that first scene. Everything else, phh, who needs 'em, I have Ratchet & Clank to buy.

Eh, it's going to be a good game but it wont push any bounds by the looks of it. Also just because a game has controversy in it, it doesn't mean it is going to redefine gaming.

They took a good long piss on PC players so I say they cant suck it and go play with their 360 fanboys they expect to carry the franchise. They have lost the respect from so many PC gamers with this recent game and its a shame because the first modern warfare was so fun. If i had 60 dollars lying around I too would send it to DICE...

This is just my opinion but I really respect how Infinity Ward makes their games. While other game developers stick with the same 'safe' games, Infinity Ward is pushing how far a video game can go. This has been seen with all the controversy on the airport scene from Modern Warfare 2.
So here's the question dear Escapist, do you agree with my opinion? Or are you on the opposite side of the spectrum saying, "Infinity Ward is just churning out remake after remake of old Call of Duty favorites,"?
BTW, my name is the same as my xbox live gamertag, which I did aquire through CoD4, but no, that does not make me a Infinity Ward fanboy.
Yes, yes it does.
You're trying to justify the actions of a company that clearly don't really care anymore.
Modern Warfare one was decent, but Battlefield's always done it ten times better.

Yes, they make wonderful games, but have unfortunately made some bizarre descisions with them.
