EUNOPF!

SO! You're walking along, minding your own business, when some guy from an alleyway calls you over. He says "Yo, dawg. I heard you liked invincibility, so I'm selling all kinds of that right here. Take your pick." and invites you to choose some manner of being invincible, unstoppable, invulnerable, infraggable, etc.

What kind are you going for?

Well, invincible means you're incapable of being beaten, invulnerable means you're incapable of being harmed, unstoppable means you're incapable of being stopped, and I'm not sure if infraggable is even a word but I assume it means incapable of being killed/dying.

I'd go with invulnerable, since it seems to be a bit more open to experimentation than invincible or unstoppable. Invincible just means that you'll never be beaten in a fight, so you could still die if you jumped out of an airplane without a parachute, or had some kind of terrible accident happen to you. Hell, you could be invincible and get killed in a car crash, not exactly a good time. I'd be wary of "unstoppable" because it might take the literal meaning and make it literally impossible for me to stop moving, which would suck. Invulnerable on the other hand means that I would never be injured by anything, no matter what kind of stupid thing I did. I guess infraggable would do the same, but infraggable means I would never be able to die, even if I grew tired of life, which could backfire and turn into my own personal hell.

So invulnerable it is.

Hey, this isn't about wordplay. It's about telling me HOW you want to be invincible. As in, with an example and perhaps an anecdote if you're feeling up to it.

I'm secretly made out of diamonds forged in the sun, so I'm completely invulnerable to everything!

Yeah, pretty much like that. 'course, any diamond that's out of the pressured core of a sun would probably be able to split planets...

invulnerable I guess?

Wait, does that mean that I'll live forever? I don't want that. Also I did not know that invincible meant unbeatable.

Obligatory I am invincible

I can't help it, any time there's a deal with a magic genie or some such thing I always attempt to figure out how my wish could be turned around to screw me before I actually make it. Bedazzled made me wary of making wishes to mystical beings.

But yeah, I'd still go with being invulnerable, it just seems like the most useful superpower. Stops bullets? Check. Allows you to survive being hit by a train? Check. Lets you go skydiving without a parachute? Check. Never have a paper-cut again? Check.

Don't worry. I'm not gonna pull one of those unless I state it so. I just wanted to make a funny play off of the other thread, which is not actually about being invincible at all, really.

Well, you're right about one thing, I do indeed love Bedazzled.

I'd go with "Unstoppable". Why, you ask? Simple - when playing Unreal Tournament 2004 many years ago, I found out that you could change the announcer's voice to something over-the-top and unreasonably sexy. That way, instead of getting the default, deep growls of "Multi-kill" and "GODLIKE!", you'd get this:

Just, uh...yeah, just call me a man of simple tastes.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that the spiderthing is voiced by the same voice actor who did the voice of Commander Worf from The Next Generation. This is obligatory:

Invincible leaves the possibility that I can still screw up myself. Unstoppability has its uses, but the opportunities to make use of it are fairly few in everyday life, unless I decided to join the circus. Infraggable is useless to me, since I don't work in a war zone, and I can buy bacon at the store however much I want.

That leaves invulnerable, which has its downsides, but overall would seem the best option.

Yes, but what kind of 'I can't be harmed' would you actually use? What would it be like?

EDIT: And how is Bacon LOSING on the polls?!

How about magic nanomachines that preserve my current health and bodily condition, unless I will to the contrary. I'd like to live indefinitely without fear of injury, hunger, disease or the ravages of time, plus the option to stop if ever I changed my mind or got trapped inescapably. Ideally it would work on my mind too so I wouldn't lose mental faculties from lack of sleep.

Ideally I'd like to extend the same powers to all other humans down the line, once society is ready for immortality (which would require things like changing our attitudes toward procreation, so we don't overpopulate the planet/any other planets we develop).

You're not invulnerable when you're invincible, but you are invincible when you're invulnerable. So invulnerable is the more better one.

To me "invulnerable" means immunity to physical damage, as in Luke Cage -style skin, skeleton of adamantium etc. Whether or not that includes damage on a molecular level by degradation over time, i.e. aging, is up to debate, but to me that's immortality. So I'm immune to physical damage, but age like a normal person. That still leaves possibilities for death, like inhaling a lethal gas, but I don't have the necessary medical education to continue this any further.

Not necessarily. Invincibility means that you can't be defeated, and invulnerable means you can't be hurt. You can be defeated without someone even needing to lay a finger on you. Take Superman for instance, he's invulnerable (mostly), but if a super-villain was to destroy Metropolis, or the world, then Superman loses. It doesn't matter that he's alive and unscathed at the end, he lost the battle.

I guess whatever one makes it so I can't die.
Though, then someone would probably seal me on concrete for however many years.

I would like a form of infraggability that makes me into an ice golem that can regenerate after anything. Also, I would like to be able to create enough cold around me [footnote]yes I know that is incorrect I just don't know how to word it[/footnote] so that I won't melt even in temperatures close to that of the sun. Kind of like Deadpool's regen (I think), but cooler.

I'm sorry, I'll go jump off a cliff now.
