Let's face it, our generation might be the best generation that will exist and rule the world(people not speaking of I dependent countries or nations). We're more accepting of homosexuality, open to green tech and does not like CO2 emitting generators, and we're more accepting to new things and more likely to speak with other people, and a lot less discriminatory towards other races or countries. I mean, we've seen all the difference in the world and have our opinions on it yet accept that difference. Sure, one guy might be Muslim and you might be Christian, but our generation isn't going to yell stuff like,"raghead." I know some of you guys will say stuff like," they'll probably inherit their racial hate from their racist dad," but consider this. In a society open to change and hates those who broadcasts stereotypes and racism, that racist born child could hang his views to ones where society might accept him. Let's face it, if you and your family lived in Georgia around pre and post Civil War, your ancestors were most likely very racist. Nowadays, racism is rarely seen, there are still a few hat crimes here-and-there, but there not as frequent as they were earlier in history. I'm seeing a chance at world peace honestly, or at least where we don't kill each other or tart a war at the drop of a hat. So, yeah, we might be the generation that creates the fabled," perfect society," that every nation talks about. So I'm looking forward to our generation to rule the country, the upcoming generation is probably going to save the world, am I right?

Our generation will be the best because everyone will be having too much fun committing fake crimes in video games to go outside and commit real ones against real people.

Not seeing it.

Besides you are kinda attributing this progress you see in your little corner of the world to the rest. This "progress" isn't even uniform across the US, let alone the world.

Not to mention the fact that people with some real knowledge about this stuff have opposite opinion you have.

Well I think we are getting closer and closer to equality, but society always seems to pick a common enemy and stereotypes will probably always exist.

Doesn't necessarily mean we're better though, just more open-minded.

Not necessarily, we've made progress certainly but out generation has downsides too.

We'll probably be remembered by our children as the generation of knife crime, CCTV, 9/11, trolling, the global recession and the ASBO (If you're British)

And this is what I thought of when I read the topic title.

OT: Let's face it, everyone thinks their generation is the best, and, let's face it, I don't think this is exactly, let's face it, the best generation, let's face it. Let's face it, not everyone just, let's face it, agrees with you like, let's face it, that. Let's face it, Let's face it...

Let's face it.

We might be getting better, but even if other generations ahead of us continue the trend of growing increasingly acepting, we'll still be tribal animals.

People with real world knowledge always have opposite opinions of younger people. Especially about "our generation is better". Goes all the way back to ancient Greece, where old people were calling the next generation "stupid" because more people were learning how to read and write.

In our current generation, the majority of people are growing up with instant gratification and Jersey Shore. We are absolutely screwed. But hey, I'm a pessimist. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Also OP, you seem to believe the next generation will create some Utopian super-society. No, just no. Utopia is impossible.

I can understand the reluctance to accept change as a motivater in a general opinion of that nature, however I am not talking about leaders, or even generally educated people. I mean psychologists and social scientists. The general consensus is that the generation in the developed world is pretty much spoiled and to easily distracted. It's information overload out there and the generation is going to have to learn how to sort and process this level of information on their own.

Are... are you you being sarcastic?
This generation is every bit as stupid and racist as the last, you just have to look on any random fourum on the web, odds are 20% of posts will be from arrogant, self obsessed, elitist pricks, at best, at worst, well you have things like xbox live.

As for US/Europe:

We are also spoiled rotten compared to our ancestors. Our generation has never seen a real depression or a war that threatened everything we had. They call it the greatest generation for a reason. Yes everything you said is more or less true, but its a give and take situation. Claiming this is the best generation is just plain dumb.

With each passing year human civilization as a whole grows in what they can achieve and accomplish through the previous generations knowledge. The changes in acceptance of stuff like homosexuality and race have come from our parents our generation has not really contributed to that. But I believe the gen z's will bring about a remarkable change because they will grow up well versed in how a computer works and will be able to use it efficiently from a very young age. Being born in thee information age gives them a tool no other generation has had before us and that is the ability to access all the information they require to do something or to understand how it works with very little effort.

so our generation isn't really the best it just has the most advantages given to us by our ancestors and their hard work.

As much as I'd like to think we'd be better, we'll be the same as every other generation. It's like every teenager who hates their parents and they think they'll be a cool parent one day. It's just not so.
