tl;dr Though I HIGHLY encourage reading the article.

Without uttering a word, police say, a man angry at having his car towed shot and killed a tow truck worker early Friday before the tow truck?s driver returned fire, mortally wounding the gunman.
A little crazy right? Just shows that you need to be ready to defend yourself rather than relying on the police to intervene.

Also, score one for the good guys.

OT: Was the tow truck driver correct in his actions? BTW, this happened in Dallas, Texas.

Sounds like a good shoot to me. He defended himself against a guy who proved himself to be a threat to his life by shooting his partner dead.

What gets me is the number of comments on the story that make tow truck drivers out to be the bad guys for doing their jobs and clearing the parking lot of cars that are illegally parked.

Shame he didn't open fire before his partner died.

Textbook case of self defense as far as I can tell. It's kind of scary that a common event like having your car towed can drive a person to murder.

I guess this would be a good example of letting people freedom to bear arms to defend themself. Though I guess the whole thing would've been avoided if the first guy didn't have a gun.

I just feel bad for the Tow Truck driver because he has to live knowing he killed a man. Even if it was out of self-defense it can be pretty straining.

I fully support the truck driver. What else was he supposed to do? Let himself get killed and someone, obviously capable of murder, get away? The truck driver saved his life and possibly saved more lives from someone willing to pull a gun when things aren't going his way.

That guy was a threat to people's lives.
The driver did the right thing, if any soldier or police officer killed in those circumstances, they'd probably be called a hero.

"Towing my car?"

...

"I'd better kill him!"

Someone please fill in the gap, because I honestly can't fathom what the hell connects those two thoughts. What a prize tosser - and that's being very, very mild.

Well, look at some of the comments. The writers appear as though they never passed a high school level English course.

There you go.

Also, I'm sure the driver was justified. Self defense.

I imagine the first guy didn't even get his gun legally.

Despite what I said above, maybe it was for the best the partner died. Had he not, I bet my ass these people would try to lock up the tow driver for murder considering how "entitled" they all feel to park wherever they want no matter what anyone says. At least this way, it's blatant self defense and there's no way to argue otherwise.
