anyway that's a step in the good direction, but it's far from cured...
As far as I'm aware, you can only get it through sexual activity, being born when your mother has it, or blood.

I don't play with needles, I don't fuck, and I was born a long time ago and I'm still clean.

So I pretty much do have a 0 percent chance, yeah.
Unless someone runs up to me and starts ramming AIDS-infected needles into my eyes.

What do you mean again? Where I live is the European capital for teenage pregnancy and slags, and not any amount of lethal STIs will ever change that.
See, this is the problem with curing STDs.
What's going to kill off the trash once we do?
I'm sure as fuck not going near them.

Everyone has a chance of getting AIDS, even if they aren't ever going to be sexually active. You could be stabbed by a junky, or something.
The problem being that I don't hang around with or near junkies.
When they get near me, I move away, mostly so I don't have to tell them to fuck off and ask someone else for money.
Touché.

They are right though, no matter how close the chances are to zero, there still is a chance.
even if it's a 0.05% chance, it's still a chance.
lol

It takes a brave/stupid/eunuch man to take some of the women home on nights out in Sunderland I tell you that.

You know we'll just have to start culling people if they cure all highly fatal diseases. I volunteer the stupid. Put an add in the paper "Free boat! No strings attached just give us your bank details and we'll send it to your door!" and anybody who applies gets the chop.

Hey man, every journey begins with but a single step.
The guys who did this deserve more credit than hey've gotten, at least it's something
Oh, I give full credit to these guys. At least they're trying. But I wouldn't say this is something. A lot of promising developments run into dead ends. Of course I hope this eventually turns into a real cure, but I seriously doubt it will. It's easy to say "oh yeah, all we have to do is replace someone's immune system and they're cured", but it's quite another thing to put that into practice on a global scale without doing more harm than good.

Basically, unless the cure comes in pill, injection or patch form, it probably can't be implemented globally.

Well, considering the health care of third world countries anyways, I don't think this WOULD be considered for a world wide cure. I see something like this being used in third world countries [like Africa] just as much as abortion is. IE, barely, if not at all.
I see it the same way I see stem cell research.
Potential, but not a grand scale.
Besides, a breakthrough, no matter how small, is still a breakthrough.

Wouldn't the junky have to have stabbed himself first?
You need to look up the word "junkie". That's kinda what junkies do.
Yeah, thinking back my mind went immediately to knives, rather than needles. My bad.

Considering the fact that I've never been mauled by an infected-needle-wielding-junkie before, or even heard of something remotely similar ever happening...

Google search for "mauled by an infected-needle-wielding-junkie" yielded no results.

Subsequent search for "mauled by an infected-needle-wielding-junkie" without quotes yielded inane babble.
(EX: http://blog.foolsmountain.com/2009/09/05/xinjiang-officials-fired-following-further-unrest-is-it-enough/ )

Same two options with no hyphens yielded same results.

You're safe.

It's actually happened here several times.
o.o
I'm not trying to be a fear monger, but there were cases of people using aids needles as robbery weapons, putting aids infected needles [or at least something similar] in coin return slots for payphones and vending machines [that actually got a few people infected.]
Hell, one time a girl was walking through a crowd of people on cocoa beach during spring break and someone stuck her in the back with a needle, which almost killed her via OD, and also infected her with aids.

Just saying, it is possible.
But, like I said, not fear mongering, I know the chances are so slim they're pretty much non-existent.
BUT, nothing is impossible.

You missed the disease fad for this one man. Nobody cares about HIV anymore, it's all about the Swine Flu!
lol
More people have been killed by the normal flu, no, the normal flu SHOT, compared to the swine flu.
Heh.
I always thought that was a fun fact.
Swine flu is silly.
Well. The 'dangerous' thing about this flu is that it spreads rapidly, making no one safe. Even though it isn't a very violent flu, it's a flu nevertheless. Old people, babies or people who don't have great health could get serious complications if infected by a flu, and possibly die. So, even if this flu isn't so dangerous, it spreads so far and widely that people who deliberately avoid infection of flus, might get infected.

Btw, I heard that the flu has mutated to a less lethal form, so it WAS somewhat dangerous, but has turned more user-friendly, so to speak.

Source; Pieces of information gather from hearing parts of television, radio and converstations.
Credibility; Not so good, but what I said sounds rational, but do research for yourself before taking this for granted.
Meh, I'll take your word for. Your logic makes sense.
I know the Flu is easy to spread, I'm just sick of the hype, that's all.
That's why I hate the media.
The day Aids was cured, so to speak, the news barely showed anything about it, they talked more about that porn star who was running for governor of some state, and then this swine flu over hype started.
-_-
The important facts are always drowned out by 'money making' bullshit.
I know, the media don't prioritize by importance, but by what will get good ratings <.<.

well, if you stay a virgin until you die it sure reduce greatly the risks...

I had not heard that. Though the part about it costing a lot of money is kind of reminding me of South Park's "solution". It is a cure for aids in most Economically Developed Country's, but not really one for the third world.

So back to the drawing board.

Call me when they cure all types of cancer (which I have the possibility of getting.)
why? you'll never have sex, need a blood transfusion, get a shot, get in touch with someone with a cut while having one too, etc? or are you one of those HIV inmunes? (wich BTW i didn't know they existed)
