I'm actually quite excited, last 2 years have been entertainning and full of drama.
Last 2 march madness have had their ups and downs, and twists that no one saw coming which made the whole thing really watchable as opposed to it just being valve/bioware roflstomping everything in their path (well that happened too, but it was almost like a minor footnote compared to everything else going on)
Besides zynga's drama from last year and the turbine drama from the year before, there's also things going on like relic beating blizzard in a popularity contest (angels were singing when that happened)... Seriously, march madness is great so long as you don't get too caught up in it and invest yourself emotionally in the proceedings by taking it personally when your fav dev loses to a dev it should have beaten (in the beholder's opinion).
Btw in my humble opinion the problem lies less with people from outside the site causing crap and more the attitude of people on this site when things don't go the way they thought it would go.
Course trolls are drawn like moths to a flame as this competition is ripe with trolling opportunities, but the worst comes from normal users who take things a bit too seriously....
Fun fact: I was told I wasn't welcome and I should "please" leave this site as it isn't "for people like me" during last march madness.
This was followed of course by a "lost faith in humanity" rant.
My crime? Merely saying zynga fans have a right to vote for devs they support even if we don't agree with them. I got a few other responses but this one always stuck with me due to its lack of passive agressiveness (a rarity), seemed more like genuine pleading to me.
So yeah, you can't really say the negative attitude is entirely from people outside the site
