I voted no just because half of the reason I love Kingdom Hearts is pure nostalgia and Marvel comics has nothing to do with that for me. I also don't see it fitting the overly optimistic tone of the games, but I guess it theoretically could be awesome.

Yes. I'd also like to see Mushroom Kingdom Hearts get made but that's just a fever dream.

It's really not that hard to tone down Marvel to an E10 rating, I mean we had 2 X-Men cartoons, Spiderman (granted that one came under heavy censorship), Iron Man, Captain America, heck there's an Avengers cartoon on Disney XD I found enjoyable.

The question is do each of the Marvel characters have their own world, or one world the entire Marvel universe?

I would also like to put foward the reminder that this upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3D is NOT KHIII.

This came straight from Nomura himself, IIRC.

the 3 in the title refers to the subtitle being an alliteration of 3 "D" words.

The actual title is Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

So it's actually less KH 3D and more KHDD

Kinda, but not really. I heard that KHIII will be the end of a "saga," heavily implying that there's gonna be more, just possibly not with Sora. If there's a new saga, yes, I want them to shove that shit with Marvel. It'd give the new saga a whole new feel.

The one thing I could see being a problem is, apart from the existence of superheroes, the locations and times of the Marvel universe are essentially planet Earth in the present. Pirates of the Caribbean was "Earth," but it was way in the past and stylized enough to not feel terrestrial. And the same can be said of the Tarzan world. I just don't see Square wanting to make present day New York City for a Kingdom Hearts game. It would lack the lushness and mystery of all the other worlds.

Well, it's already been pretty heavily hinted that 'The World Ends With you' will be one of the places you go to, and that's basically modern day Tokyo, albeit somewhat stylized. Although I think the realism aspect of a Marvel version of New York might be overcome by the multicoloured, spandex-clad superbeings flying around. They could even try a saturated, comic-style aesthetic to make it feel more surreal, I guess.

I don't see why it couldn't work? It may be a bit of a jarring move. Since you've had the first 2 games set in a disney/final fantasy universe. It would seem weird if you just smash a marvel one in there too hoping that nobody will notice.

Also, it would drive the third one away too much. With the introduction of marvel, you will have to have characterization on the new characters, that is something the first two games have already spent many hours doing... It would be silly to start all that again.

Not to mention the story implications and lore... I can't even begin to get into that...
