This smells of a versus thread, with very little discussion value.

That kind isn't welcome here.

OT: Marvel. The heroes tend to be a little more practical in their powers, even if the science is really hokey.

I choose Marvel. Why? Their characters (the successful ones anyway, I don't know ALL of their characters) just seem more thought out and creative. Think about it:

Superman:
HE'S INVINCIBLE! What's that? We wrote him into a corner? Well, now he has uh... uh... lazer eyes! Or can reverse time by flying opposite the world's rotation! yeah!!

Really?

At least Marvel's characters have limits. :| Even Wolverine. (Though yes, sometimes they do have crappy/weird story lines too.)
[I can't think coherently, so this is all I'm gonna write ... I'm in class ahaha.]

marvel, mostly for the reasons already stated, also I like the fact that life actually seems to happen in a lot of marvel stories tony starks alcoholism, various love triangles all that sort of shit, admittedly I've not read all that much DC but it all just seems a bit to 'oh well superman will save the day'.

DC.

I used to prefer Marvel, back when I started reading comics in the late 70s/early 80s. That was an awesome era - Claremont and Byrne on the X-Men; Michelinie/Romita Jr/Layton on Iron Man, and Frank Miller's first work on Daredevil. When I went back to comics a decade or so later Marvel just did not impress - horrible scratchy artwork and a zillion X-books sums it up (though Peter David's run on the Incredible Hulk was amazing for a long time)

I think I prefer DC, mostly for the Bat Family titles, and because they take a few risks - like letting Grant Morrison go insane on Batman (R.I.P. aka W.T.F.?) while Marvel spend their time endlessly rehashing the glory days or spewing out repugnant sensationalist crap like Marvel Zombies and a lot of the Ultimate line.

Well, Marvel certainly has more film and surprisingly a few are really good (I have a strange taste) but DC's got Bats... and the Green Lanterns... and the Flash... and Watchmen.
Yeah, if we're going purely by the comics I have to give you a definite DC vote. If we're including movies... still DC probably, I just liked the Batman films and GL looks promising too.

Although Marvel had some pretty good comic series like "What if...", I've got to give them that.

I like Marvel just that tiny bit more that DC, Both have series that I like but I like Marvel for its more down to earth explanations of how they get powers instead of 'magic' or 'alien' or 'what powers?' all the time. I suppose thats the inner scientist in me trying to give me hope I will gain wierd abilities one day.

Well I'm not a huge fan of either one, but DC started off Vertigo so they'll get my vote for that.

When I was younger I was a huge fan of Marvel, but as I grew up and my tastes matured I became a DC fan. Sure, their heroes are over powered, but so are their villains. The stories are just so much more interesting in the DC universe.

I'm torn. I hate Superman. He's overpowered, lawful good, and completely uninteresting, but, I still have to give it to DC because they have Batman. I'm not a huge comic book fan, but I've loved Batman since the Tim Burton movies and 90's animated series.

Also, I've had a little more exposure to the DC side of things because my resident comic book nerd and I usually talk about nerd stuff while getting hammered on weekend nights. His ramblings are the only reason I'm excited for the DC:Universes online game. I also have an ongoing drunken argument with him that Batman could beat Superman, which is a source of lively entertainment.

Both are good, I don't have a particular preference. I don't really read comic books anyway. I only really know these heroes through other mediums.

I was mostly a Marvel guy until a few years ago. Now I'd prefer a mix of both Marvel and DC.

Why? Well, Marvel has great character designs, but rather flat/bland characters and mediocre stories. DC, on the other hand, has character and costume designs that make my eyes bleed, but the writing is top notch in most cases.
You can see where this is going.

And don't try to convince me of anything else, you can't win. Fusing both universes has already been done, and it has brought us awesomeness in spades.
Think I'm wrong? Check this and think again.

I read both. Both have their own flaws, but both have their own charm.

Both, definately.
I love both's movies (Bar Superman, hate him. Too super), and the characters I know of.
I'm a little more leanient toward Marvel, because... well, X-men, Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man... Marvel's fucking iconic. EVERYONE knows their characters.
Sure, people know Batman and Superman too, but ask a random person how many characters from each they know of. I bet they'll know more Marvel.

But on the other hand..
DC made Watchmen.
That is all.
