Poll: Marvel vs DC

I always felt Marvel was a much more connected universe to ours, the heroes were in real cities, their storylines often reflected the world situations in interesting ways, and the characters I always felt were far more grounded in reality.

Saying that though, I think the only reason I prefer Marvel to DC is because I grew up with a whole bunch of Marvel cartoon shows, and didn't get into DC until my late teens.

And Alan Moore only does DC stuff, so that gives those boys quite a big bit of credence.

I tend to see-saw between them, but right now, I'm leaning towards DC based on the current strength of their Green Lantern books. The writing and art for GL's always been pretty good, but they really stepped it up for "The Blackest Night". "The Brightest Day" is looking like it'll be just as good.

Seriously, Marvel has better characters and stories. Hell, even their spinoffs are better_The Ultimates, Marvel Zombies, and their great What-If? comics where they test out what would happen if a sotry went thr other way, Like What-if Professor X became the Juggernaut? And there is Marvel vs. Capcom.

I've always loved Superman more than any other comic book character, second is Batman don't really have a third but the Justice League comics/cartoons are up there. So DC for me.

Also DC has Kingdom Come, amazing.

In my personal opinion, Marvel has had better story lines, better characters, and better superheroes.

This, only reversed.

Maybe it's just me but I find most Marvel heroes really unappealing.
DC on the other hand has all my favourites... the Flash, Batman, Green Lantern, Watchmen. Ah, the great men of our century. Furthermore I have the impression that DC has better story-writers, or at least I prefer their stories. Like the Green Lantern series, just great.
Not that I loathe Marvel, but I'd prefer DC comics every day. And the Dark Knight was a great boost for them after all of Marvel's films.
Btw: who else is really looking forward to the upcoming GL film?

Was never a really big fan of Marvel, the only character I was interested in was the Punisher, Just don't like spiderman prefer Batman. Same when you compare the films,

I like DC better, I do like Marvel though. Mostly because of Batman. I find it easier to get into DC comics due to the Animated Universe. DC also makes graphic novels, I don't think Marvel makes too many graphic novels (if any) just comic book issues.

Well, I like both of them but I'm gonna have to go with Marvel. All in all I just like the characters better, and Marvel does a much better job with continuity then DC, who tends to completely forget or retcon storylines just a couple years after they've happened. (In my experience, anyways) But I do love me some Batman and Flash.

I'd say Batman is my favorite hero. He's just so awesome. When you hear "I'm Batman," your only reaction is to shit yourself and get pummeled.

HOWEVER, I must say Marvel has the better line-up. Spiderman, the X-Men, other honorable mentions just stack up. Still, they're all beneath Batman.

I was only saying Jonah Hill just because he's EXACTLY the kind of guy they would cast nowadays in order to reel in a larger audience.
For example:
Generic guy #1: "Bro! The fat guy from Superbad is gonna be in the next Spider-man, dude! Radical!
Generic Guy #2: "Bodacious! If only they had McLovin! And those penis drawings!"

By the way, do you know how to quote select parts of a person's post? The Sandman picture is starting to take up a lot of space.

Hell yes. I wish the fan made trailer online with Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan was real, though. It looked great.

No VS threads allowed on the Escapist, too much flaming, you should know that you're here longer than me. Still, I chose Marvel for not having "INVINCIBLE-MEN!" their heroes had problems, not just rock hard guys who go around beating people (except Wolverine of course but at least he didn't wear pajamas)
