Do what i did. Play as an Adept, and use Liara T'soni(an adept) and Urdnot Wrex(a vanguard) as your teammates. That might Sound crazy....but TRUST me, if you're half-way decent at using the power wheel (turn auto power-use off btw) You will have a BLAST!

I first played ME1 as a soldier in normal difficulty. liked the game, loved the characters, loved the story, but didn't think the gameplay was that special.

The second time, i played female Shepard, with That squad in HARD difficulty.....literally fell in LOVE with the game! Just walking into a room and launching half of it into the air, picking out straggler with pistols and shotguns.......just DO it!

Also, is it possible to max out all your skills in ME1?
Not without using a save-game editor or something similar on the PC version You'll always have more skills and slots than you have points to spend.

If you're going to import to ME2 I would try the Sentinel. The ME2 Sentinel is great fun. Very hard to kill and the only class in the game with powers effective against all armour types, so you can have much more fun with your bonus powers and choice of companions.

That said, the Adept in ME1 is very fun and silly effective, especially if you want to focus on using your biotics to deal damage or toss people around. Maxed out biotic push with the nemesis class bonus can one shot just about anything, and will cool down fast enough to be used every fight. Also, while singularity damage might be negligible having two crowd control powers really helps in some fights, and tossing enemies into the sky team rocket style never gets old.

Also, it's purely cosmetic but the Adept (and the Vanguard I think) get nifty purple biotic barriers in ME2 instead of blue shields.

I loved my vanguard character, but I've only played vanguard and soldier, so I can't say much.

Just one word of advice: don't do what I did and think that toxic/polonium rounds are uber because they give you a massive damage bonus. They don't, and they aren't.
