I don't know if this has been mentioned before but it's worth bringing up.
With Mass Effect 2 and later 3 coming out on PS3 after the first two being on 360 and PC it allows PS3 players like myself to play one of the greatest RPG series of the last decade. However, the first Mass Effect hasn't come out for PS3 and with a backstory and a save-game continuation from each game, should Mass Effect 1 be released for PS3?

Well, Mass Effect will never be released for PS3 as Microsoft Game Studios holds the exclusive publishing rights to that one.

BioWare is getting around that by bundling a digital comic on PS3 that allows you to make some of the decisions you made in Mass Effect...
whether to kill the krogan, who lives and dies, whether to save the council or end it, etc.
So your ME2 character still has some of that backstory.

Mass Effect 1 is infinitely better then 2 in every way, so yes, PS3 users should get it.
But you never, ever will because of publishing rights.

As UnnDunn said it will never happen, so this thread is kind of moot.

For the sake of argument I will say that it should have been released on PS3 two or more years ago.

Now I wonder the usefulness of re-releasing such an old game that isn't a HD remake.

Honestly, I wouldn't get 2 for the PS3. 1 is better and the comic they created in its place is crap. It doesn't even mention the Geth. And no Conrad Verner! As others have pointed out, you can't get ME1 because of publishing rights. You should, but then 360 owners should have gotten Disgaea 3.

Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Yes. A thousand thousand times yes. I want it, and want the transferable storyline and buildup that the first will send into the second, and that those will build and transfer into the third.

Will it happen? Nope. :(

I doubt it, it's been out for about three years now. And with the comic thing they're doing (done?), to let you decide on the biggest choices, it definitely doesn't seem like they will.

Sucks too, because Mass Effect > Mass Effect 2.

Should it? No, because there's a exclusivity contract for the game with Microsoft and breaking it would be illegal.

If there wasn't a contract? Absolutely.

It should, but mainly because as many people as possible should experience it.

Don't worry about the whole choices thing though. They don't do much other then change up a few emails/news broadcasts. They don't really effect the story at all. Hopefully your choices will have a bigger impact in ME3, but I doubt it.

Unless they remake it if not then don't it's really buggy and sucks at some times
And besides Microsoft owns the rights too it I think so it will never happen

Yes because there's no way I'll jump in to a story based series at the second installment.

I say that if microsoft will actually let it happen then why not. I will still be playing it on my glorious pc though, so it doesn't affect me in the slightest.

I just got Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 and its really good. Though the story line is difficult to follow, due to the back log of Mass Effect 1 and the comic strip really didn't help. The smartest thing to do in my opinion is release both games a pack.

I wish Mass Effect would come out on the PS3 as well. There are tons of little things missing from Mass Effect 2 on the PS3. Nothing crucial to the story, but little things that add to the story, such as meeting characters from the first game in the second game. Sadly, as some pointed out--with a little uncalled for anger--it will probably never happen. Alas, if only we lived in a world where people could share...

Although that might be a bad idea, as the companies would probably all merge into one meta company.

I think it would be a decent idea - more room for the side-mission choices than that motion comic allowed for, at least - but it'd probably be easier just to buck up and get an X360. That way, one can get the series on there, and can also get the other console-exclusive titles (Gears of War, etc.).
