While surfing the ME wiki, I noticed this badass piece of work, the Kestrel Armor.

It also comes with this nice little SR, the M-29 Inscisor.

Judging by what I've read, they both appear to be zetta good pieces of equipment. The only thing stopping me from getting them is that I don't know if suits my playstyle very well.

You see, when I play Mass Effect, I always play Soldier, with my preferred style of ruining a merc's day being to activate Hardened Adrenaline Rush with my trusty Revenant and to turn him into swiss cheese. I'm not really sure if all the bonuses gotten from this armor will be worth it in the end if I only end up using 1 or 2 pieces from it.

So tell me. Should I just stick the ol' N7, or should I march back to the DLC website, stare the browser in the eyes and tell it to shut up and take my money? Your call.

I pretty much play solely with those two items, along with a pistol and AR I got in another DLC pack. Definitely worth the couple of pounds it costs to get.

EDIT: Plus I play as soldier too.

I purchased that dlc, and i regret it. its not a bad sniper, there are better ones. on higher difficulties especially. Very ammo intensive, low damage. over rated. /IMO

EDIT: sorry about the double post, forgot to enter the spambot filter and my post wasnt showing. refreshed, still nothing. retyped and remembered to fill out the info and bam. two.

Mass effect is pretty forgiving, armor stats aren't going to make or break the game. So to that end, aesthetics > stats.

If you like the looks, get it and wear it. Period.

No.
Weapon and clothing packs are never worth it imo (unless it's for sims, and even then only maybe).

It's especially good for the Soldier class, the shield boosts from the armour really do make a difference. It's even better with the Revenant as it allows you that extra couple of seconds before you have to break fire.

the armour is good, the sniper rifle on the other hand, give it to your companions and it really excels. its too ammo intensive for player use..

damn you for making me want to load up ME1 and 2 again
I've just started my third playthrough. ^_^

First time soldier, first time fem-shep.

My first two shepard's were male; Joshua Shepard, a Paragon Infiltrator and Markus Shepard a Renegade Adept.

I enjoyed the first two playthroughs immensely, I'm sure I'll run into some unique encounters in the fem-shep run as well.

On topic; save your money for some better DLC. Only buy this if if you got all the extra characters and extra story DLC's already.

The armour is good in modular pieces, swapping out individual parts for what you need. I've never found myself using the whole set.
The sniper I love. If used well, it is a brilliant weapon, but there are times when the others can be of more use. Its major downside is its ammo drain. One of its upsides is being able to get 3 headshots with 1 press of the button in under a second. That and it tears through shields and barriers like tissue paper. It is of massive help with your companions though, with the possible exception of the Mantis for Legion, which is sometimes more effective. They don't run out of ammo, and thus just keep spamming triple sniper shots at your enemies.

I personally play as Vanguard, and the shield boost is immensely helpful for the playstyle I've devised for anything up to veteran difficulty, and possibly those beyond, but it is far harder. That strategy is charge the first thing I see, melee it, spam shotgun everywhere, charge the next possible opportunity, switch to SMG when out of ammo, and use the sniper before entering combat to blow up explosive crates or take down bosses (Like the LotSB one).

I don't know what the price is atm, but from memory it was only $3-$5 or something, so not that big of an investment really. I don't know if it was this armour, or another armour, or both, but there is one or two armour pieces I use exclusively in the last level of the game because the boss is that crap I just want it over with. Those armour pieces are the ones that allow you to carry extra heavy ammunition. I use them to take 210% ammo for my M-920 Cain into that final fight, and 2 hit that SoaB without having to collect more ammo. God that final fight is just awful, especially if you play it normally...

No. The Kestrel armour is about on par with any of the other DLC armour sets, and the Incisor is worthless for player use. Note that I only say player use, not because of its ammo, but because companions who equip it have a very large boost in accuracy over other rifles for some reason - combined with unlimited ammunition, they can make use of it. However it does limit you to I think Garrus and Thane.

On Insanity mode, the time it takes for all three shots to leave the barrel will make you very vulnerable to return fire, especially if you don't have a time dilation effect. In addition to being risky, you can easily miss with the second and third shots if the target moves even slightly, which is only made worse with a time dilation field - you can actually manage to hit three different targets with one burst, which is impressive but useless given how little damage each shot does, individually. The Mantis, Viper, and Widow are better rifles overall.

Additionally, somewhat off topic: You're missing out on a big chunk of the game if you only ever play Soldier. Try Vanguard or Infiltrator at the very least, they play somewhat similarly but focus on shotgun and sniper rifle, and both get time slow mechanics.

I know that. I actually have tried out the other classes, but I always just end up using them like the soldier anyways.

That being said, I've only tried out all the classes in the first game, where even with everything maxed, tech and biotic powers always seem to take an eon and a half to regen fully. I heard that in ME2, the most you have to wait is a couple of seconds, which may improve matters.

I'm running both an Infiltrator and a Vanguard through ME1 now, so that I can patch 'em through to ME2 and see how those classes work there. They're both pretty good classes, although I use the guns a lot more than the powers due to the long recharge times.

In other news, I think that once I finish the playthrough of ME1 with either the Infiltrator or Vanguard, I'll be getting the Aegis Pack. Like Skywolfblue said earlier, the game's pretty forgiving when it comes to armor stats, so just go with whatever looks the coolest. The fact that I get to look like Space Robocop doesn't exactly hurt matters either.

Or is it Space Judge Dredd? I don't know, haven't seen either movie.
