Shes okay. I will probably take the time out to recruit her, if only because Im that kind of RPG player. As it stands, Im not completely indifferent, but neither am I completely smitten with her, or most spewing vitriol over her. I can see the appeal of the character, will probably sample her myself (although not the potential relationship that she has with Shepard though), but not focus my game on her.
Of course, what I failed to mention is that entirely hinges on my romance Liara returning. And by returning I mean a squad mate who fulfils the same role as before in ME1 (although not to the letter plot wise of course). If she is sidelined, cameo'd or otherwise deliberately out of reach for the duration of the same, I will kill the power and the game will find its way out of my reach, indefinitely.
But that all sounds way too negative. I am actually thoroughly bloody excited about Mass Effect 2 (as much so as I was the first). Only this time that excitement is slightly rained on by the ways this game could potentially step wrong. My afore mentioned "ruin romance" take is the foremost among them.
Personally, although this is deliberately presumptuous on my part, I think this game is either going to be the second best game I have ever played, or my bitterest disappointment as a gamer.
Of course, this wouldnt be the case if Bioware just said "dont worry, romances return as full squad mates again and continue the relationship as before". Id be safe in the knowledge that one of my most treasured aspects of gaming retains its assured place in the sequel.
