Yes i realize theres tons of threads concerning both topics both nothing specific so im making this one. Im realy curious about how many of you have thought about Origin, just excactly what it is and what it means.
First of im extremely biased, EAs systematic destruction of Bioware and all it stood for has pissed me of like a fangirl at a twilight burning session but thats another discussion. Ive been a huge fan of Mass Effect since the first game along with Dragon Age and pretty much any pre-EA or early EA Bioware title. And i have big grievances with the mainstreaming and like Yahtzee would put it; Big-Manly-Muscular-Space-Marine-Syndrome thats been infecting everything in gaming from puzzlers to what previously were deep story centered RPGs.
Despite this pre-booking Mass Effect 3 was always a no brainer for me but what was the turning point is Origin. Its very easy to dismiss all these new things that game companies spell up as mainly its just nerdrage and nothing of real consequence with some exceptions. When it comes to Origin however its simply a step to far, it quite literaly gives EA the right to any information it feels like farming from your computer AND gives them the right to sell this information to any 3rd party they feel like. Dramatic or not this is pure simple spyware, exactly the kind you use all kind of programs to keep out of your computers and with good reason. People rage about these things, forget it and use it anyway. To use an insulting term, which I am a real fan of, people are sheep and its realy that simple.
What im curious about is how many of you out there realy realize what Origin means for personal integrity, which used to be a very missused word but is becoming something to think about, gaming and the future of both. We both know that until the sales numbers say stop big companies like EA will keep pushing the limit a little at a time simply cause its profitable and they are big enough in the business to dictate most rules. I personaly will not buy Mass Effect 3 as a Origin exclusive. I wont let it into my computer any more than id let someone install a cam in my bathroom, spyware on my computer or snoop through my mail and sell it to whoever they want. How many of you out there have realy considered this and taken a stand one way or another?
Sorry for the wall of text, tried to minimize it but guess i got carried away..
