Well it's cash grab as swag always is, and this preplanned DLC is always pinched from the game.
Which just makes my decision to not buy ME3 final, ok maybe on a $10 full pack sale.

I'm always perplexed when people throw fit over something like this. Companies are allowed to make money you know. If you don't like figurines don't buy them. DLC is just a bonus. You are not their target audience but some people will gladly pay money for the figurines. Quit your entitled whining and get on with your lives.

Shrug if they want to make money by offereing soemthing free with the figures it's up to them.
Uncharted gave free dlc if you bought a drink from subway.
There is no idea what the dlc will be chances are weapons or armour or just constumes nothing game vital should be given as a freebie for buying a figure.

Commenter Chronicles points us to this listing on the BioWare Store site, which says the DLC "is slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters."
They can't be stupid enough to restrict new characters to a NA only release and force you to buy toys to get them.

Yeah, ea and bioware never do dumb things.

But seriously, its entirely possible that it'll be restricted to NA. Lots of stuff is.

Which ME2 DLC was vital to the plot? o_O'

I remember using the Cain once in ME2, on the final boss.

And missing.

I was like, AWESOME... FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I don't want to be a total douche here. but the cain isn't a dlc weapon.
the arc caster is but that was free if you bought the game new.

Depends on what the DLC is - if it's like most of ME2's DLC, most of it will be worthless (Shadow Broker was the only bit of DLC even remotely worth the price) and probably character centric (a new outfit for your squad members, maybe more weapons). If it's just that, then I don't care. If they are linking these blasted figurines with story-centric side-missions (which I doubt they'll do), then I will turn a lovely shade of furious red.

I will put £50 on the line now to state that the DLC will also be available seperately. If only that would stop the internet having a collective hissy fit about a company making some products.

Also, I thought all of the quest DLC for ME2 was awesome, I really don't know what everyone is on about? Arrival, Shadow Broker, the extra characters, Firewalker and Overlord, all awesome!

I'm saying it now, let's see if I'm right.

The end off Mass Effect 3 will not be on the disc, it will end on a cliff hanger and to get the full ending you will have to buy Expansions, probably more than one.

I hope I'm wrong, but this is EA we're talking about.

is figurines.

I wish I was kidding. FIGURINES?

Here's the interesting/infuriating part for those unwilling to check my source.

"Each figure contains different in-game content, exclusive to North American released product," says Big Fish, so you're SOL, Europe. "Collect all 8 for the full experience!"

Oh, and one figurine is $17.99; a set of four is $67.99.

All four series, then, would cost $271.96, or about 32,000 Microsoft points.

I can't see this as anything other than a massive cash-grab. But then, I haven't bought a physical game in a few years, because I'm in love with Steam.
Wow a whole 5 people think this is a good idea.

The DLC costs more than the game! That's f**ked by anyone's standards.

I love the Mass Effect series, I'm replaying the first game right now and will import that into the second game immediately once I'm finished, hopefully finishing that in time for Mass Effect 3 - but if I can't get DLC without paying DOUBLE the price of my pre-order for the game, then Bioware (EA) this truely will be the last game I and many others EVER BUY FROM YOU AGAIN.

Okay it's final. I am NOT buying Mass Effect 3. Fuck Bioware.
Ok. Why? Not being all fanboy protective, but DLC espcially in something like mass effect or fallout doesn't take anything away from the core game. If you dont' want the figures, that's cool. Hell i'm not even saying to go buy the game for 60 bucks. Wait til it's like 20. But is it the figures that makes you not want to buy the game?
It certainly pisses me off when the DLC is essential to the plot, which ME2 did and 3 will almost certainly do as well. Granted this isn't the only reason I'm not buying it, and if I do it will be like you said, when it's cheap as hell.

More to the topic though. It does if it's the only way to get it, and 8 pieces of DLC? I bet you half of that is armour and weapons that should have been in the game to begin with. Me2 had barely any weapons or armour, most of them were DLC.

I've had enough of Biowares antics. I'm not asking you to agree with me or anything, hell you can think I'm a raging lunatic (I do rant a lot) but really. I've trusted Bioware for a long time and I'm not taking it anymore.
I don't think any of you understand... at all. The figurines include DlC. Ok, cool. This DOES NOT mean that you HAVE to buy the figurines to get the DLC. When you buy the figurines, the DLC is included! It's just like any other promotion, "Buy this toy we made and you'll get free weapons and armor!" Those websites you linked just want high pages views, and they do that by making crazy titles to their articles.

Your poll has failed.
Most people buy retail because of several factors.
The inherent security of owning your own copy that you have control over.
A trip to the store is much faster and easier than a download.
I understand that PC gamers don't buy hard copies, but they're a very small, very loud segment of the market.
I buy retail, but I don't give two shits about extra swag.

I doubt that you'll have to buy these to get the DLC. There will most likely be a way to buy the DLC separate from the figurines. I know that, for sure, I'm not buying these poorly made toys.

Pfft, I can't understand why people are crying about this. It sounds like another way for EA to make more money with cheap bullshit that people should be able to see past by now. I don't know why people want to boycott the whole game just cause a little deal EA made on the side. If you don't like it then just don't buy the figurines, they can't force you to do it and it certainly won't kill you if you don't.

That said, NA residents beware of EA's shady tactics.

Thankfully, you're rewarding them in the short term, which is exactly what they're looking for.

I can't see the DLC being NA exclusive. This deal with the figurines coming with DLC maybe but not the DLC itself. Plus, when they do release them (they will, there'd be no point not releasing it), the price is probably going to be $6 per character with set of 4 costing about $20.

They're just bonus weapons/armour, and Europe won't get it, so it can't be that big a deal. Geeze people, stop being emo and going "O-M-G, they're giving free DLC with something I don't have to buy! I hate them!"

Besides, if I know Bioware, they'll eventually release all this stand alone when figurine sales die out. Bottom line is, you don't need to buy them, so don't. It shouldn't be a major factor in buying the actual game.
