If you haven't heard Mass Effect 3 was delayed, and further more it got delayed by EA since they "want to make it for a larger market"

Am i the only who reads this statement as "EA told us to do this or we get the whip again"

Honestly I'm now convinced EA is going to make bioware turn ME3 into "Mass Effect: Future warfare" and it will lose any chance of being the epic ending fans have been waiting years for.

But thats my opinion whats yours

I think thats a little bit of a overreaction, whilst I dont think anything good can come of the 'Larger market' focus, I trust Bioware, afterall, I was one of the few that enjoyed DA2... Apart from the third act :/

That we know nothing about this game aside from a few plot details and some screenshots, so whining about the game being ruined right now is pointless.

Honestly, I'm a little pissed about them continuing to talk about stream lining and making it more accessible to anyone, when Mass Effect 2 was streamlined so badly that it was hardly an RPG anymore.

Though, this is giving me deja vu about Dragon Age 2.

You're being paranoid.

I somehow doubt that Bioware is going to bend over for EA and change anything majorly major.

I have yet to play a bioware game I didn't love.
EA didn't ruin DA2, so I see no reason to believe they will manage to ruin ME3.

*Sigh* That was not a press release, it was something for the Share Holders so it probably mans nothing, except for an excuse so ME3 doesn't have to compete with all the highly anticipated games. I hold my opinion on the game until they actually, ya know, release some proper trailers. Anyone who shouts "TEH GAMEZ SUCKS!" are not thinking properly, how can you judge a game when all it has a few Screens and one Teaser?

I like how they're adding an actual Melee Weapon system but I am also ready to accept the fact that those stupid heat-sync clips will be returning. I doubt that they'll try Call of Duty-ing the ME series though...they may try to shoe-horn in a spin off game or series about some of the larger skirmishes hinted at in the other 2 games (like the First Contact war or the Krogan Rebellions: Either would make for a good FPS)

Playing Shadow Broker and, the latest DLC (have forgotten it's title) have given me hope for a return of vehicle sections. Not that I'm saying the Mako was a great vehicle but those sections did make the Galaxy seem larger and more accessible. I prefer the hover-craft though but wish it had a chaingun instead of just those rockets.

before I forget: As awesome as these screenshots are, I can't wait to see an actual video. A gameplay trailer, not a teaser.

I so want Mass Effect 3 to be good that I can't afford to give up hope or it could well kill me.

However, then I read every press release that they've put out about it, and with every one I die a little inside.

More cover based shooty nonsense? Appeal for a wider audience? Deadline pushed back? Less RPG Elements? All my preexisting concerns about how they were actually going to handle the story seeming to come true? (about characters not returning because it's impossible to program a game with all those possible outcomes taken into account.)

Basically at this point I'll be content if it's an above average shooter, but I'm not even sure it can pull that off.

Christ, I really hate this trend of streamlining for wider audiences. Why don't they just call it 'dumbing down for a sellout cash-in'? But no, I still have faith in Bioware; they are above this. EA on the other hand...

Actually, i did find it a little bit strange.

But then they unvieled that excellent PS3 Mass Effect 2 port then i understood where most of that time must have went.

Im sure Mass Effect 3 will be out before Episode 3 however.

Firstly, what's your source for the EA statement?

Secondly, Mass Effect 3 is not doomed to fail. The Bioware/EA combination has done good things in the past and so far there's no reason to think otherwise. Besides, a comment like that could mean anything. It could mean they've decided to strip out endless loading screens and pictures of the ship for good old fashioned witty banter elevators.

I'm not part of the "omgz, it;z not an rpg no morez!" crowd.

I play Mass Effect to enjoy it. I don't give a flying fuck whether it's 'not an RPG anymore, just a shooter with dialogue'.

As long as the story is solid, I don't care.

Then who did ruin DA2?

Part me of thinks that people are just overreacting and being paranoid over a simple little comment. At the same time though, I can't help but feel a little nervous about how the game's going to turn out. All I can do though is to wait for it to come out and play it myself.

I think everyone is misinterpreting this.

Surely by "appeal to a larger market" what they really mean is they will now give us the option of same sex romancing, because everyone wants a lesbian Shepard... right?

Right?

if you read the news article here in the escapist you would see that comment was meant to the investors, and to be honest, i dont think EA is the one who wants to delay it but bioware to refine details, they dont want another "DA2" type reaction from the fans
