Poll: Mass Effect 3 doomed?

Mass Effect 2 got exactly the same treatment and it was brilliant. I look at a delay like that and I like to think of it as giving them the time to sort out the billions of story arcs left over from Mass Effect 2.

I think thats a little bit of a overreaction, whilst I dont think anything good can come of the 'Larger market' focus, I trust Bioware, afterall, I was one of the few that enjoyed DA2... Apart from the third act :/

I didn't think the third act itsself sucked, but the ending was a huge let down.

Firstly, what's your source for the EA statement?

Secondly, Mass Effect 3 is not doomed to fail. The Bioware/EA combination has done good things in the past and so far there's no reason to think otherwise. Besides, a comment like that could mean anything. It could mean they've decided to strip out endless loading screens and pictures of the ship for good old fashioned witty banter elevators.

I'm going to say 'no' to it being doomed. We have yet to see really anything on it apart of several pictures. I'll reserve my judgment until we start seeing some gameplay footage and even then, I'll still be pre-ordering this game.

I was worried about that too when I read the line "...appeal to a wider audience", or something to that effect. However I don't think(read: hope) EA would fuck with ME3 too much because the Mass Effect series has been a commercial and critical success. As such there is, at least to me very little justification for EA to fuck with its development. Also part of me hopes this turns out to be the Star Wars of video games, so yeah.

P.S. The game isn't due for 8 months at the earliest so chill.

If you haven't heard Mass Effect 3 was delayed, and further more it got delayed by EA since they "want to make it for a larger market"

Am i the only who reads this statement as "EA told us to do this or we get the whip again"

Honestly I'm now convinced EA is going to make bioware turn ME3 into "Mass Effect: Future warfare" and it will lose any chance of being the epic ending fans have been waiting years for.

But thats my opinion whats yours

Considering they somehow managed to turn both of their epic sagas into set-piece-filled, explosion-fueled, adrenaline-charged retard-fests, I would be greatly surprised if ME3 didn't continue the trend. Somehow Bioware has managed to almost completely lose the ability to write a compelling story sometime in the last 3 years. It makes no sense, but their games have become progressively worse, story-wise, since ME1.

I really want to not believe that, but I can't lie to myself well enough to deny the obvious.

I hurt when I heard why EA made the delay.
Even so, that doesn't automatically kill any chance of the game being good, or even great.
I don't like how EA is handling themselves these days, but we can at least hope that they'll let Bioware make the important calls.

I am cautiously optimistic.

Cautious, because EA has this tendency to break just about everything they have, and delaying something to "make it more mainstream" is a little concerning when most companies interpret mainstream as Call of Duty or Halo.

Optimistic because this is Bioware, one of the best RPG developers.. Ever. Plus EA has owned Bioware for a little while now, it didn't really screw up ME2. DAO was still a good game even if it had some problems, DA2 (though I've never played it) seems to also still be a good game and on top of this, is one of the few games that actually tackles gay relationships with some (mind you not complete) maturity.

Therefore: It is Bioware. Every game they have made so far has at the very least been entertaining to RPG fans. I will trust them to make another good game. After all, at least EA isn't assuming direct control.. Not yet anyway.
