I'd never let anything so trivial as having to install Origin keep me from playing a genuinely good game.

And as I have every reason to believe that Mass Effect 3 will be an absolutely spectacular game, made by one of my favourite developers, yes, EA can have all the personal information they want. I'll be far too busy having fun to care that some massive corporation, which will likely never have any reason to so much as learn my name, let alone use my personal information (of which they will not have any more than, say, Valve and Google) against me, knows a little more about me than it did before.

Luckily, Xbox doesn't have to worry about Origin, and that's where I'll be playing it. Let's hear it for 360, eh?

Considering I'll be getting it for the 360, not really bothered by Origin. That said, if I were going to go PC with it, like with The Old Republic, I'm still not bothered by Origin any more than the basic fact of having to have numerous accounts for multiple distribution services.

Console gaming. Suck it.
Console gaming sucks it? I know, right?

I have to use Origin for SWTOR, so I'll already have it on my PC when ME3 comes out. I wasn't ever nervous about installing it on my computer, as it just seems to be the same type of software as steam. I think several of the posts in this thread confirm that idea.

I think a lot of people don't like Origin just because of the fact that its coming from EA. Meh, you know what? You have to pick your battles...ME3 is one of those games that I will buy and i refuse to crack. I support the developers that I believe in, and Bioware is one of those.

If a game has Origin I usually just buy it on consoles. That will certainly be the case for ME3, if I end up getting it. If I do, it'll probably be once it's cheaper.
For all the people hating on Origin, I've got a tip for you. I haven't tried it myself, but why not just install Origin and the game on a separate HDD, for example a cheap flashdrive, that way it hopefully only searches through that HDD.

Hey, the next time you want to spread propaganda, at least don't be a TOTAL dipshit about it. First of all, EA changed Origin's EULA to be more restrictive with their ability to use and collect user data. Second of all Origin's original EULA wasn't as bad as people say it was; it only offered a somewhat more liberal approach with what they could do with shit like computer diagnostics. No matter what they sold to 3rd parties, however, all the information was still going to be ANONYMOUS.

The reason that EA would want to sell information about someone's computer in the first place would be to get a feel for demographics for the platform. For instance, let's say that Publisher A is trying to work out whether to sell a game through Origin or Steam. This would be a year or two from now when Origin will probably have some real momentum, enough to seriously compete with Steam. Information that both companies would likely sell them would help the publisher see how many copies of a certain game they could potentially sell and what marketing they should use to use to sell the game, among other things.

I'll be getting it on my PC, cause believe it or not the EULA changed for Origin a couple months back! Plus I have the first 2 on my PC, and there is literally nothing that's gonna stop me from getting this game when it comes out. Mass Effect is my favorite series from this console generation, so no way in hell am I missing out on what happens in the end.

Also biased poll is extremely biased. At least update your post with the new Origin info if you're going to have a poll like this. Or better yet, make a poll that actually has no bias and/or accounts for people who are buying it on consoles as well.

My character is on my Xbox, so ME3 Day 1 for me. I've been waiting for this for a long ass time now and everything they've been showing off looks like the best of ME1 with the best of ME2 with better combat. Color me super-stoked.

At first I thought this was a stupid question. Then i saw the poll going the way of "yes".
What the fuck is wrong with you people? not just you people, everyone in this fucking world.
It's obvious that every fucking government is too busy spreading their legs and getting fucked by big corporations to actually control their behavior so it's up to us, and when you throw money at immoral, evil, thieving services like origin you just give them the means to do it.
It might be because: 1) Origin has taken the "datamining" lines out of their EULA and can no longer do the things that everyone is objecting to and 2) I (and several other people have as well based on the posts in this thread) are getting the game on the Xbox and voted yes. But since the wording of the poll is biased that automatically means we are getting on the PC and bending over to EA and downloading Origin. Not to mention the handful of people that plan on buying a hard copy legally and then downloading a crack so they don't have to use Origin despite it not being any more evil than Steam (apparently).

I'll be buying it for my Xbox, so the Origin thing won't affect my decision.
I have invested too many hours (and have to many good feelings) in the Mass Effect series to dismiss the third installment.

But I do think EA is doing its best to run this game into the ground.

How exactly do they expect Bioware to make ME3 (the final installment of an epic, galaxy-spanning tale) a good jumping in point for new players?

I get that they want to keep their bottom line afloat, but there is only one real audience for Mass Effect 3- people who have played, and enjoyed, the first two games.

Loved ME2, ME3 looks great, Origin isn't meant to be that bad and I always vote to be contrary when I see a smugly-worded biased poll. Four compelling reasons for a "yay!" right there.

After some perusing of the ME3 website, it appears that ME3 will be using Origin on the PC version, so for those who were/are planning to get ME3 will this affect your decision?

If it does appear to, then yes I won't be getting it.
Getting it on PS3 so... yeah, not a problem. ^^

I'm playing The Old Republic on Origin. I'll play Mass Effect 3 on Origin.

I'm buying ME3 in spite of Origin. I suspect that when we all buy ME3, there will be a big meeting over at EA HQ and some Executive will take credit for Origin being a success when the fact is closer that we are really big fans of game (and BIOWARE) and we are being forced to either use Origin or fuck off.

Not really much of a choice is it? It's kind of like Steam, except even if you choose D2D, you still need Origin's web interface to play it.
