ech. And here we yet again have the modernized fallout thingy rearing its head.
OK, i liked fallout 3 in a fashion like my favourite food was served slightly undercooked. It's still good, but leaves the distinct aftertaste of displeasure.

Even so it wins over Mass Effect. If we ask of the older Fallouts then doubly so. Why? I love the freedom.
Mass Effect 1 was railshooter enough to feel claustrophobic at times.
Game mechanics leave me wanting more of both the games.

If I choose between all the Fallout games vs. all the Mass effect games then I choose Fallout... No questions about it. Mass effect is good but it can't compete with the masters.

Best series ever made vs a game I've played for 1 hour, went "meh" and uninstalled it.

Mass Effect.

Fallout 3 was my favorite game for a long time...until Mass Effect 2 came around. Let's list it.

Fallout 3 > Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 1 > Fallout 1
Mass Effect > Fallout 3

So from the above data I have to say Mass Effect, but only slightly. But I must admit giving up on Fallout 1 shortly after starting.
This is pretty much exactly my opinion, except I played all the way through Fallout 1 and I haven't played ME 2. I actually liked Fallout 2 least out of the good ones (rampant bugs, a little too tongue-in-cheek), with Fallout 1 and Tactics being about even(Fallout 1 for story, Tactics for gameplay), with Mass Effect being better than both, but not as good as Fallout 3(story sucked, but I've always dreamed of an open-world shooter Fallout. It was everything I was hoping STALKER would have been). [b/]Is the general consensus that ME2 is the better one?[/b]
Generally yes.

The dev's listened to the complaints and cleaned it up a fair bit, as well as pulling classes like the biotic out of the "support" role into a stand alone character.

I'll go with Mass Fallout Effect. It's about a space captain in a post-apocalyptic universe where a mysterious group of sentient power armors intend to do something shady to the universe in the name of America and the president.
I'd play that game!

OT: I'll have to go with Fallout, simply because I can't see myself putting close to 300 hours of time into ME2. I've played all the Fallouts, and both MEs. While I like ME, Fallout lets you immerse yourself into the world a bit more, it's all about the experience of being in a post-apocalyptic world, whereas ME is more about telling an interactive story. Now, if you really want to tax my loyalties, ask me about Oblivion vs Fallout. Wait, don't do that, I like my brain contained in my skull.

Though, at least it was nice to have actual weapon choices in Fallout 3; in Mass Effect, there was absolutely no reason not to use the Assault Rifle at all times, except for maybe the first few levels if you're playing a class without the assault rifle skill.
Yeah, this is a big part of why I prefer Fallout on the whole. Mass Effect's weapon system is pretty boring. But Fallout, especially Tactics, had an insane variety of weapons, their usefulness varying by what kind of enemy you were fighting. Tactics had a completely unique gun I've never seen anywhere else: a ceramic-coated Super Soaker that shot acid. I'll repeat-Fallout Tactics had an acid-spraying gun of some kind.

ME2 didn't keep crashing and bugging out on me like Fallout 3 did, but Fallout was very intriguing during all those issues. Still, I'm giving the nod to ME.

Thanks for pointing that out, I had not discovered that.

The avatar is the symbol of anarchist communism. In addition to looking cool, it combines the hammer and sickle of communism with the encircled A of anarchism.

If so, I suggest you get fallout
