Hey,

I have been thinking of buying Max Payne 3 for a while and noticed it is on steam and 75% off. Normally this would be a no brainier for me, but for some reason i cant just dive in this time (I have bought to many bad games in the steam sales i think :p)

So Escapists, what do you think i should do?

Cheers,

Fim

Personally I thought the game was awful. It constantly wrests control out of your hands to force-feed you it's mediocre story. The actual gunplay is pretty fun, but it feels like the game mostly consists of poorly written, headache-inducing cutscenes.

Plus, if you buy it from Steam you're looking at like a 30GB download, so there's that to consider.

Well, I find Max Payne 3 to be the best third person shooter ever created, so, yeah, i'd say you should definitely buy it.

I absolutely fucking hated it and condem it and its disgustingly over dramatic story and protagonist to the deepest circle of hell.

But I've heard of other people who loved it to death [sub][sub]can't imagine why[/sub][/sub].

If you like your game to spazz the fuck out, then interrupt with some cutscenes, and follow up with QTE all while you follow the story of an old drunk then yes this is the game for you.

I loved it, personally. Max himself is a bit of a grump and his narration can sometimes be a bit ridiculous, but that's been true for the whole series so you should know what you're getting into. The game is quite a lot of fun to play and it's pretty challenging in places (you will die a LOT in some scenes of the game, it's just a given).

If you're worried about the style complaints some have voiced here, try a demo version and see if it will be an issue for you.

Absolutely loved it. Has to be one of my favorite third person shooters ever, it's worthy of the Max Payne name. Max himself is a little dry as a character but that's pretty much intentional, so I would definitely recommend it.
