Next time, please use spoiler tags.

OT: I decided to destroy it. I hate the Illusive Man. He's such a douche bag.
In a thread title "Final Choice"? I honestly can't tell if your being serious.

I am being very serious. Somebody (currently playing Mass Effect 2) could have clicked on this thread by accident, and the author just ruined it for them.
No, they ruined it for themselves because they didn't read the title to terribly carefully.

No. I'm saying that if they accidentally clicked on it (trying to click on the thread either above or below it), it is the author's fault for not using spoiler tags. Conversation over.
And how would a spoiler tag save them if they clicked the wrong thread instead of one directly above or below it?

Because naturally, you don't realize that you have clicked on the wrong thread until you have read the first post of the author. And please don't say "but you could just look at the thread's title!" If you thought you clicked on the right one (hence it being an accident), why should you have to read the thread's title AGAIN?
So you need to put spoilers not only in the title for the people who can't click on a piece of text but also in every post in case they speed read and wreck things for themselves. Got it.

There is no need to be a jackass. Conversation is over. I am not replying.

I never trusted TIM enough to hand it over. It's like having a Nuke that you have to decide to either disarm or give the launch control to someone you've been working with but don't entirely trust.

What I don't like is that there is a Paragon/Renegade value attached to the decision. Just another example of mishandled choices in the game.

Give Cerberus, who are a band of insane power hungry ruthless criminals a weapon of mass destruction?

Sounds good to me.

I destroyed it but for the sole reason that I didn't want it falling in to TIM's hands. That guy was shifty from the very beginning even if his upfront intentions were honorable. If there had been the option to keep it for myself so that I could have Mordin analyze it in hopes of creating a weapon to counter the Reapers, I would have done it.

I think it would have been interesting to have the option to hand it over to the Alliance or the Council. There's a good chance whomever got their hands on it from both those organizations would probably be power-hungry and corrupt but it would still be cool nonetheless.

This choice reminded me of a something that happens in season... 3? I think, of Battlestar Galactica (reimagined one).

When they find that device that's a road sign on the way to Earth, that causes a deadly plague in the cylons. The humans have the option to end them forever by jumping into the cylon fleet that has a resurrections ship and leaving the device there, so it will spread to all cylons and eradicate them all. Helo, being the very righteous man that he is, destroys it because he thinks it would be genocide. His reasoning aside, I knew something was going to come up and prevent the humans from using the plague-device-thing. Why?

It would be too easy. The fight against the enemy has to be hard and drawn out, can't be won with a quick and easy win-card, for lack of a better term. It's too easy lol.

Silly reasoning aside, I had a few legit reasons for blowing it up. First and foremost, obviously, to stick it to the Illusive Man. "Shepard I brought you ba-" Shepard: "Does it look like I care? *middle finger*" Second, I felt like, after seeing what it did to Lilith, that it would be like reusing a concentration camp right after WWII. Like my superior just said, "Hey, great news! We will be establishing a base in Auschwitz in order to use the innovative and advanced technology inside it!" You know? Just destroy it, let all those poor humans and collectors rest in peace.

I destroyed the base twice, (one with Renegade) because I decided that screwing over Illusive man was pretty funny.

but what's confusing is Miranda's act of defiance against Illusive man at the very end.

I guess it's out of loyalty towards Shepard but I still think it was out of her character to do so.

I always thought there wasn't enough justification for destroying the base. I could only think of two, and they weren't that good:

1) The Station is EVIL!!!1!!! It must be destroyed!!!
2) Hey, let's get rid of our only source of knowledge about the Reapers, their technology, and possible ways to fight them because we want to spite the guy who brought me back to life and gave me a bitchin' space-ship.

As much as I didn't like T.I.M. at the time, I still couldn't bring myself to blow it up.
That being said, I'd still much rather have preferred the option to keep the station myself or hand it over to the Alliance or Citadel.

I didn't trust the Illusive Man. Hell I wouldn't trust anyone with that thing and if it is Reaper technology it's a good chance the ship was used to keep the Collectors completely indoctrinated. We've seen what those ships can do so it was better off destroyed.

As for Miranda and Jacob? Jacob never liked Cerberus and is loyal to Shepard. If you bring Miranda to the decision she is strongly against the plan and if you choose to destroy the base the Illusive Man tries to have Miranda stop you. She then replies with, "I quit." So no matter what those two are on your side.

considering that a paragon Shepard would have helped them through the entire game at that point anyway.
Due to bad writing shoehorning you to work with them.
OP: I blew it up as a middle finger to TIM.

The problem with games which make you make big choices based on morality that have meters showing your good/evil-ness... (Like any BioWare game)
...Is that no matter how morally ambiguous a decision may seem, it always has either a "good" or "evil" connotation as far as the game is concerned.
You could argue that giving the Illusive Man the ship was in the interest of humanity - that the ship itself was safe, and only useful information could be gleaned from it. But the game still counts it as a "renegade" action.

And sorry if I missed something crucial is that reasoning - it's been a while since I played ME2 and my memory is hazy.

Give, sure it will screw us over in the long term. but having access to reaper tech could give us an advantage in the short term, after all that's how you get your grubby little hands on the Thanix Cannon.

Yeah, I know. Paragon Shepard would never work with them after all the crap they pulled in the first game, even if they were the better option.
