I planned to go back and play through the series from the start after beating ME3, but then I beat ME3 and subsequently lost any and all desire to play through the other games again. The ending was so unbelievably bad that it killed my love for the franchise as a whole.

On a related note I'm not getting Dragon Age 3 either, or anything else made by Bioware from now on, they died a very long time ago, EA is just pulling a Weekend at Bernie's with its corpse, which should be fooling absolutely nobody.

ME3 did something i thought impossible it retroactively destroyed my interest in the entire franchise, ive often played ME 1 and 2 but yeah i havent touched any of them since i experienced the ending
Yep. Before ME3 came out, I went back to ME2 to play all the DLC and get my Shepards ready. When ME3 came out and I started playing it, I planned to go back and do some things differently starting right from Mass Effect 1. Then I noticed that a lot of the RPG elements had disappeared. Then I got to the ending. Ugh. I don't think I've ever been so disillusioned(sp?). What were they thinking?

I may go back to try and get the last couple of achievements, but that's it.

I haven't played any of the games yet after beating ME3, but I am definitely going to play the games again. I won't let 5 minutes ruin what I think is a great series.

I've played one 6 times again just recently, 2 3 times and just started it again as a back burner project for fun, 3 twice so far
One was a bit of a slog in parts, though I did enjoy romping about in the mako but 2 is faring better so far just trying to make lots of different decisions.
As much as the ending was a big disappointment the other games are not and right up until that it's an awesome experience.

Think I'm up to playthrough # 9 of ME 3. Almost done, just finished up with the Quarians and the Geth. Once this playthrough is complete, I'm going to do a playthrough of ME 1, then a speed-run of ME 2 in which I do everything wrong (no upgrades, no loyalty missions, etc). The point is I want to ensure that there are no survivors from ME 2 to ME 3 just so I can see how ME 3 is different if everyone died in ME 2. :3

So really, with the spirit of the topic, no the ending to ME 3 has in no way, shape, or form ruined the entire franchise for me. I imagine I'll be playing all 3 games for quite a long while still.

i played me3 3 or 4 times again after finishing it, to get all the achievements, then did the same again for 1 & 2. the whole finishing most of the game with x character was really time consuming...

I started a new playthrough of ME1, but stopped after the first few hours.

This has more to do with me suffering a bit from Mass Effect exhaustion, then with the infamous ending itself.

Well... I don't want to spoil anything, but if you let EVERYONE die, the 3rd game will be MASSIVELY affected.

:p That's kinda what I figured...I'd imagine Shepard himself/herself being dead and therefor not in ME 3 would make ME 3 pretty different by itself, not to mention all the major plot points that are dependent upon characters that you can have get killed by the end of ME 2.

:p ME 2 is gonna be one hell of a short game without doing any of the loyalty quests. xD Just gonna pick everyone up, do Overlord, Firewalker, and Arrival, then launch the mission and get everyone killed.

That makes sense seeing as how that whole thing that would massivly effect ME3 would happen.
This makes me very curios to see what would happen if you did let everyone die.
I can only imagine how ME3 would play out and it might be an even worse ending then the one I was stuck with.

No, and like you I have literally stopped caring, for the most part. Its just... not the same. I am waiting for the DLC, to see if it fixes any of the massive plot holes, and hopefully makes the ending more sensible. If that happens, then things will change. If not, I am done with Bioware.

No. That's probably just because it's been only a few months since I last played the entire series.

ME2 is one of my favourite games. The ending to ME3 is really bad but it hasn't ruined the previous games for me.

As long as you don't let yourself be shallow and irrational, you're good.

OT: I did replay 3 right after I finished it, but since I marathoned the other two to prepare I need to wait a while before getting into them again. I'll probably do another full run next year.

I tried but the combat in the first ME is so crappy, roaming the planets is dull as hell. I just can't bring myself to get past the citadel anymore

Yes, I have, though after several playthroughs of Mass Effect 3 as both male and female Shepard, I got burnt out. I doubt I'll end up playing either Mass Effect 1 or 2 again, mainly because the mechanics are simply better in the third installment, especially compared to the original.

I might end up playing Mass Effect 2 again, if only because of the characters in that, like Grunt, Mordin and Thane, that aren't nearly as prevalent in 3.

But, while I hate the ending with a seething passion, I didn't let it ruin the series. I simply deny it even exists, and enjoy the rest of the games for what they are. Besides, Mass Effect scratches several of my gaming itches all at once, so why deny myself my third-person-shooter fix, among others?
