they added rejection and really, second to Indoctrination Theory/dark energy by Karpyshyn, that was the ending I hoped for. Our cycle is lost, but we left the legacy that could ensure Reapers dont return.

still dissapointed as hell. Thats not how you end SPACE OPERA. I wish the best of luck to Bioware, but I am not buying anything from them again. ME series was supposed to stay with me forever, like Star Wars, but now... eh.

I think we may be giving Bioware too much credit. Writing the quintessential happy ending is not where their strengths lay. They (Bio) don't think along the lines of; Kill the Dragon, save the Princess and live happily ever after.
What about Dragon Age then...

Kill the Dragon...marry the Queen...live happily ever after, that's one of the endings you can get.

If they had not been complete and utter dicks to the fans by calling the people disatisfied with the original ending, and I quote "Whiny, homophobic entitled brats", then Yes i would have been satisfied with the EC.

As it stands, I cant wait for Bioware to burn down and join the likes of Bullfrog and Westwood in the graveyard of companies EA has raped to death.
This.

I saved time and just watched the garbage on YouTube. While the "extended cut" endings are at the very least 50% less shit, they're still shit. BioBEware has caught the denial virus from being raped by EA (if it's not the actual animators it most definitely is Hudson and his fuckbuddy when they took the franchise hostage at the last minute then gave the finger to anyone calling the two out on their pretentious "artistic integrity" which they have no concept of).

Exactly.

What are those individuals going to do? Complain?

They did that already. We got the Extended Cut.

Let it go.

I kind of like the Refusal ending. I can accept it as an option, at least. The outcome of going that route was much like what I thought (before finishing the game the first time) a "worst-case scenario" ending could be for the game. So that or Destruction could be my "canon" of sorts. The other two? No way in hell. Especially not Synthesis, which manages to be both silly (how the hell does that work?) and horrifying (changing countless lives without their consent?). I'm just gonna pretend that ending doesn't exist.

I have to admit, I think my favorite part of the new ending was the added one. So many people were like "But we don't like ANY of those options" and the added ending seems to me like Bioware is flipping over the table and saying, "Oh yeah? Yeah? Fine then. Say no. Tell the Star Child you don't wanna work with him? Ready. EVERYONE DIES. Happy? Screw you."

It's like watching one of the biggest game developers in the world throw a little tantrum, like a DM losing his patience with his players. "Shut up, Carl! Oh, is that so? Fine! *rollrollroll* A DRAGON EATS YOU. GAME OVER. I'm never inviting you over my house again!"

That's hardly a fair comparison, nor a sanitary one.

If the Mass Effect 3 ending was oh so horrible, then the Extended Cut attempt to "fix" it, plain and simple.

On that note, I am done with this thread and its inability to comprehend simple logic. The game and its ending are what they are. Pissing and moaning already got us the Extended Cut.

Pissing and moaning more probably won't do much else at this point.

Mine's still downloading. Started at 10am yesterday, it's now 2.30pm the next day. Fucking thing keeps jumping back and forth and stopping. A minute ago it was at 93%. Now, after stopping again, it's frozen at 1%.

I fucking hate technology.

I recognise that there's still the matter of illogic and plot holes there, but I don't feel like I can be as upset about it as now it's just an ending with plot holes and illogic rather than one that's poorly done on all fronts.

Still, it doesn't look like your choices factor into it at all(?), which was the biggest grievance.

Quick question guys. Apparently for the EC, you have to start from the Cerberus base again, but for all 3 endings, all I did was restart the 'Return to the Citadel' mission (where you're already hit with the beam and you shoot Marauder Shields) and go from there. I guess my question is, what extra content did I miss (if any)? I really don't want to do all that just to hear two extra lines or something. Youtube just has the scenes I've already seen.

The only thing you missed that i am aware of was a redone cutscene of the Conduit run right before the Citadel part. It shows your party members getting owned and you call in the Normandy to pick them up. If you have a love interest you say your final good byes and it is quite a sad scene.

Yeah I'm with you OP I can't understand why people are praising bioware for this lazy shit.

Like the original ending it had major bloody potential this time with the refusal ending that I tried the first time around it was actually ok (minus the fucking unneeded deus ex machina plot hole inducing space child being added despite the fact that we already had a deus ex machina with the crucible) but what do we get for sticking with the values that the Mass effect series has always held, The ability for you and others to choose for yourself is met with a massive fucking middle finger from bioware.

Not to mention that this is basically Red, Green and Blue endings 2.0 with very minor changes again placed onto the varying endings even more so because half of all the endings are slide shows.

You can marry Anora? I had no idea.

No, the problem with the ending is that there's no happy ending whatsoever.
This is the only reason everyone is mad. I don't care how they dress it up, it all boils down to "But i didn't want my Shepard to die"
Well no, even I won't agree with that. There are a number of reasons people are annoyed. Yeah, that's a big one, but the way I see it, without a living Shep, I just don't care much about everything else. About the fact that with the mass relays destroyed (and somehow not wiping out every system they're in), everyone's cut off from each other. About the fact that even if Shep DID live, Joker idiotically whisked himself and what's left of my crew far far away so that Shep is cut off from them forever. About the dumb final encounter. Basically, it all boils down to just how utterly bleak even the best ending is for everyone. There's such a "not even worth it" feeling to it all.

But ESPECIALLY about the fact that there are so many ways it could have been done much better, and they just didn't bother trying.

just gonna repost my comment to a similar thread as to why I am pissed off with the current endings.

"I don't know about you but I hated the endings.

Why ? Because I wanted a happy ending!

What's up with the world that people start thinking that sad, depressing endings are better ?

We all know that Joker had enough time to come and save you!

How hard is it to ask to have blue babies with Liara? I mean come on in the Destroy ending they clearly left that body --presumably yours-- breathing without any explanation.

What the hell Bioware? At least tell me that's not Shepard's body and be done with that cliffhanger!

As for the Rejection ending it all felt like Return of the Jedi for me. Why ? Because if went something like this:

Staring: Godchild as Emperor Palpatine and Shepard as Luke Skywalker.

Godchild: "Something, Something, Something Control..."
Shepard: "War will end on my terms" *Ignoring him just watching the battle progress*
Godchild: "Something, Something, Something cycle continues..."
Shepard: *Now resigned to fate accepting Godchild's terms*

Wouldn't have been surprised if some John Williams music would have been playing in the background.

As for Synthesis and Control they both seemed like you were taking people's free will away. In Synthesis, who the hell are you to decide to merge people into some abomination DNA. As for Control you now basically become an omnipotent force that can crush anyone that looks at you sideways. How long until Reaper-Shepard sets up his own Empire where he is crowned Emperor?

But I can imagine that Reaper-Shepard setting up a Tyrannical Empire and becoming Emperor is just the set up for Bioware's next Mass Effect title. "Mass Effect: The Rise of the Pyjaks" as someone so creatively named it."
