In an effort to divert conversation from Mass Effect 3's ending (like that's going to happen sometime soon), and also out of a vain curiosity, I was wondering what you, Escapist, were your thoughts on the multiplayer component of Mass Effect 3. There's been a ton of debate on the single-player, but I haven't seen a lot of conversation about the multiplayer and if it's enjoyable or not.

Basically, I'm asking what do you think of the multiplayer in terms of mechanics and the overall "fun" aspect (or lack thereof) of the game.

It's fun, but definitely not the prime multiplayer experience. But I'm enjoying stealthing around throwing sticky grenades on enemies.

I find it fun. Vanguards annoy the hell out of me but it happens. I also played a Bronze by myself to see if I could do it, I could but it's not something I suggest doing.

I would've voted "not bad" except for the "I'd rather be playing another game's multiplayer". I don't like multiplayer.

It was good for a while. I'm getting bored of it, though, and annoyed with the people I get stuck with. And I don't want the combat to get old either. I like to replay Mass Effect games a lot. So I think I'm close to done with it.

I quite like it, its quite addictive. As a PS3 user though, I wish Sony would lighten up and let us be a part of their weekend specials more often.

I love it.. though I'm not sure I see myself still playing it in even a couple months time unless they add some new maps and some different modes and/or objectives.

Surprisingly fun, though it has limited replayability. Ironically, however, I've played it more than the single player, which has 0 replayability with the ending.

I play it every so often to keep my readiness at 100%.
Its fun. I have two/three games before I leave. Headbutting things as a krogan is fun. Just want a quarian engineer and I'll be really happy.

When I heard the game was co-op and I saw the trailer, I wasn't expecting a horde mode. I thought there were missions that you could play in with certain races having certain traits. You know, just missions to gather supplies or rescue people, not a freakin horde mode.

I'm really getting sick of fucking horde modes. Its a cheap way of creating multiplayer games out of single player games now.
An Uncharted 2 or 3 style Co-op adventure mode would have been pretty cool. Alas...

It's ok but I'm a bit disappointed in the way things are unlocked and balancing. The multiplayer feels like it was tweaked for bronze/silver. A lot of the weapons are utter garbage and some of the maps are really bad at spawn points/objective locations.
I had fun for a good 12 or so hours but after getting almost all the classes to 20 I've gotten bored.

So you can now be your favorite aliens.

TRANSLATION: a new skin that changes your appearance

Horde modes are fun, but instead of skill based horde modes like CoD zombies (you need to ACTUALLY BE GOOD to get farther) its more of a progression based system, where you'll proceed if you've unlocked enough extra garbage that makes it a fair fight. Maybe I just don't like the combat system, but there are far better games in terms of depth/progression, and FAR better horde modes that are more fluid and diverse.

And the enemy variety....sucks. Compared to Gears of War with many alien types that you have to combat differently, in Mass Effect you just spam your special abilities till everything dies. Guy has a shield? Just keep shooting through it. Guy in a robot suit? Just keep shooting through it. Its kinda boring.

Its competent. Its not amazing, its not bad, its just stale.

Haven't played it, because fuck online passes and caving in to a sibling.

Not paying 10 dollars more on a game for a tacked on multiplayer.

It was okay.

I got a good few days worth out of it and enjoyed it.

It got boring quickly though. I gave my copy of ME3 to a friend and can say, without a shadow of a doubt, i'm done with the ME series once and for all.

Meh, it's alright. Got its fair share of bugs, much like the single player. It's major drawback is it doesn't have anything to really make you want to play it, other than the Galactic Readiness system and if you're not 100% behind it, it can feel like a chore.

I get 3% readiness to all sectors when I host on 360 atm, which is the quickest way to get the rating up and level up my character (if I so wish at the time), but it can still take me anything up to 2+ hours to get the rating back up to 100%. That's 2+ hours I could be spending on playing the actual game. This isn't helped, of course, by BioWare not allowing players control over game time limits and wave counts.

I'm sure it's fun for the grindwhores and those who just like to derp in multiplayer, but I think I used up all my enthusiasm for it on the demo. It's ok, it's not bad, but it just doesn't engage as much as I think it ought to (and indeed, as much as BioWare would like, I wager) and with the fairly lacklustre amount of maps combined with only three enemy types (ranging from herp, derp and OH GOD RUN! in difficulty), it feels a bit tacked on.

But then, I'm just a budding videogame blogger, what the hell do I know? ^^
