Legalize it, please, just fucking legalize it already. UK Government studies have already shown that cannabis is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, which are both legal. The medicinal Marijuana system is most definitely a step in the right direction, and good for getting cannabis to those who really do need it. However, I believe that legalization, or at the very least, decriminalization, should be the goal in mind, in order to reduce drug related crime, stop people filling jails for minor drug offenses, and generally become a more free, choice orientated society. Plus, the sheer amount a marijuana industry would be worth could make quite a difference financially in our current downturn.

I'd settle for decriminalization. Portugal, a country that had problems with drug abuse in the past, decriminalized all drugs discreetly some time ago, and now has the lowest drug abuse and drug related crimes rates in Europe. Coincidence? I think not.

But then again, I smoke marijuana on a regular basis and regularly campaign for its legalization, so I could hardly be called objective on the matter.
Switzerland had (or has) a similar deal. Back in the 90's people used to take heroin like it was their job. Then, after all those years, the junkies realized their wrongs, but couldn't change because the cold-turkey style of quitting heroin can be deadly. Regular rehab didn't work for them either, since they had no money. What the government incorporated were free heroin clinics, where people could go in, get just enough free heroin to keep going, and become resourceful individuals all the while. Many people eventually weaned themselves off because they had a life and other things to do by that point.

I've never heard of someone getting "a little" stoned.
I'm a little stoned at the moment, to be perfectly honest. Still having a fairly coherent discussion here though, or at least I hope so.
A little high, pretty blazed, f*cking stoned, who cares, it's all words-- though they seem to carry degrees of affect to me...

the prohibition system on marijuana is a joke. It's broken on every level. Too many people getting jailed for no offense whatsoever other than possessing something daddy arbitrarily told them they couldn't have, and BS the reasons why whenever the questions come up. It feeds this absolutely horrific and brutal cartel war in the South of the US and the North of Mexico. It's time to end the illusion for good.
The MMJ system is an amusing loophole, but it's pretty f*cking expensive to get that card here (Colorado). It's a few hundred dollars after doctor's fees and application costs, and has to be re-applied for (I believe) yearly. Why not ride off a good buddy if they have their card? It's easy enough, and leaves both parties happy.

Here in California the card is like 35$ and they have free clinics specifical for getting your card.

I want it legalized, absolutely. It's purely political, there is no good reason to otherwise keep marijuana illegal. I have little doubt this would decrease crimes across the nation.

Note: I do not, nor ever have taken marijuana.

I've seen a good bit of tests that have shown marywanna isn't that bad for you, so I have no idea why it's still illegal. Hell, most of those negative side effects are caused by smoking it, so putting it in brownies or whatever would cut out even more than that. But most hilarious of all, smoking and drinking are much worse than it, yet are still allowed.

I'll add that it shouldn't be legal to use it when driving or doing jobs or whatever, at least until we figure out how much it screws people up in those situations.
