A lot of people have already said this, but there are plenty of methods available to not be carrying around that many coins in the first place. Just drop all your loose change in a jar somewhere when you get home, or if you drive a car then designate one cupholder for change and trade it in for bills when it gets full in either case. Or just try to use coins more often when paying for things. As far as

goes...that's not a coin problem, that's an absent-mindedness problem.

Overall I would probably mock you a bit, not because it is "unmanly" but because it seems like an unnecessary solution to a problem that you have caused yourself, and I find inefficiency to be hilarious when it isn't infuriating.

get a wallet its more practical and very manly, you can have cards, notes and coins in one place.

in fact there is very little to excuse a pouch/purse, it just seems uncool and unappealing in my opinion to see someone fiddling with coins in what could be called a bag

I'm offended by being called a Nazi!
In all seriousness though, I think men should kind of avoid carrying purses, because they are generally viewed as feminine objects. Just use pockets, or a backpack.

If there's one thing I miss about the 90s, it was being able to wear bum-bags as a kid. I understand why they're pretty much taboo now, but my word were they useful back in the day. You didn't even have to turn your head as you rummaged through them!
Fanny packs for the win brother!
My grandpa still wears one where ever he goes and intimidates people while in it like a badass.
Basically what I'm saying is that he can wear anything and still be "manly" so why can't other men wear purses.
It ain't the clothes it's the act.

You should get a spiral coin pouch. I am starting to see them quite often, and a friend of mine who has one seems to find it helpful.
Plus, they look cool.

But no, I don't care if you have a purse. I also don't care if you walk around in tight red hotpants. The list of things I don't care about goes on and on and on.

Purse

Pick one.

Why not use a Backpack? Or get a Wallet with a Coin holder? How much change are we talking about here?
Wallets usually have very small coin pouches which I find awkward to use, it also makes it difficult to lose the wallet when there is a lot of change in it; I find it much easier to carry a small pouch for my change.

also, I REALLY don't see why a man can't have a shoulder slung bag...I mean it's just a bag.... slung around your shoulder.... it really doesn't have quality that a rational person would deem unmasculine.

I use a bag over my shoulder like that (looks different), it carries my tablet PC (or netbook), MP3 player and sometimes even my wallet. Never had any issues or strange looks, guess it's considered ok if its for technology lol.

I am a MAN-purse carring man and Im pround of it. Its a manly purse, not a sissy girly purse. Its practical because I carry too much shit to keep in my pockets and use it carry school books as well. Maybe I wont need this purse one day when Ill have my own car to carry shit but guess witch one is cheaper now.

Purses? You mean man-satchels, right? ^^

While I think it's a bit strange (not unmanly, mind), go ahead, carry one if you want.

Otherwise: get pants/jackets with pockets, and put what doesn't fit there in a backpack. Works for me.

Nothing unmanly about using a coin purse if you really want.

Definitely something unmanly about being unable to take mocking though.

If you want to use a coin purse then use one. You don't need permission from your friends. If they want to mock you for it then let them, either take it in good humor or find better friends. Just use whatever the hell you want and see the humor in doing so, the only point where you become truly unmanly is the point where you can't laugh at yourself and instead blush your cheeks a pretty shade of pink.
Truth was spoken here.

Really? "No purses at all (I'm a nazi)"?

Glad you opened this thread with such an open-minded,unbiased view!

In all seriousness...pockets, wallets and laptop bags should give you all the wearable portability you need without exposing you to potential mockery.

Caveat: Sometimes it's all how you wear it. As my wife explained it to me, if you wear it over the shoulder and tucked under the same arm, it's a purse.

If you wear it cross shoulder and hanging by the opposite side, it's a bag.

(So the Zach Galifianakas meme is indeed correct!)

I keep all my coins on my desk, and I only use them when I buy something from the shop just down the road, that way it's the only thing in my pocket and it doesn't annoy me.
If it looked like a woman-purse, I'd probably say something about it, but if it just looked like a small bag I'd think it was pretty cool. I always like those little bags they have in games and movies for holding coins.

I think there's a distinct stylised difference between a 'satchel' and a 'purse'. Similar to how there is a stylised difference between a kilt and a skirt, or men's underwear and women's underwear.
That sounds more like "there's an arbitrary exception for those things, even though they're functionally purses and skirts and underwear anyway."

Go ahead and purse away, OP, you magnificent free spirit. I personally hate how pockets have shrunk in the last few years; unless it's winter, and I'm wearing a jacket, I have nowhere to keep my wallet. There are those things, though, whataretheycalled... err, saddlebags? Like large pockets hanging from a belt. I don't know if they appeared anywhere outside my country, but they seem pursy enough. And they were unisex.

What if it is a bag that simply does not have a long enough strap to wear it cross-shoulder? Because those are universally purses.

Such as that cat-purse thing.

I always wondered what the functional point of a bag is if you need to keep your elbow shoved into it to keep it where it needs to be.

People can dress and use whatever they want, and more people need to realize that. If a man wish to use a purse, I've got no business with it.

I'm quite proud of being a "manly man" and have no shame in being labelled a *nazi* or *sexist* if it means I get to mock blokes walking round with purses.

The same way I mock blokes that wear pink.
He's right you know.

Just use your pockets man! That's what they're for!

Step one: get a bag bag with a strap long enough to wear on the opposite shoulder (i.e. a satchel or messenger bag)
Step two: make sure material/condition of the bag is something that can take a beating and less "designer leather"-y.
Step three: throw that bag in the garbage and wear cargo pants like I do.

And you're done.

Sure, let people carry what they want and/or need.
Personally, I prefer carrying as little as possible.
ID, bank card, keys and a few spare coins is all I carry, and they all go into my pockets.

A man with a coin purse.

Nah, doesn't work for me.

I know many a fancy poof or flamboyant whateversexual, they can do it nicely and with style. It's their thing.

If you're an average male with a coin purse, you'll be the odd one out at every occasion, in every situation. Either switch to plastic only or get a frickin' girlfriend/wife. They carry stuff around like pack mules, I hear. That should sort you out nicely.

I don't particularly care, but I would probably think less of a guy that did it.

To me, he would come off as a contrarian. Someone who goes against the system to just be edgy.

There are so many better options in the form of backpacks and the like.
