Oh, it's still a big argument. I preferred Metallica back when they were awesome, but since the Black Album they've been sucking hard while Megadeth has remained pretty badass. Personally, I think Dave is a little full of himself, but then again, so is Lars (to a much more ridiculous extent). Plus, I went to Gigantour with Megadeth, Children of Bodom, and In Flames in the pit for $50 while Metallica wants $80 for seats halfway up a stadium. No thanks.Thirtysomething said:Back when I was at school/college it wasn't One vs MoP, it was Metallica vs Megadeth. Personally, I much preferred Megadeth, although I liked Metallica too. Dave Mustaine always sounded so much more pissed off and genuine, and their lyrics weren't as pretentious as Metallicas could be perceived to be.
Yeah sorry I didn't make it clear, I meant the instrumental at the end of the song is their most famous. Same problem when I explained Master of Puppets, I meant the instrumental near the end of the song is the longest out of their songs I think, I read it somewhere!crimsondynamics said:One is not an instrumental. It's a song, not a piece. There are vocals.Nazulu said:One: is about a soldier who lost everything in a explosion except his mind, another great riff but said to be Metallicas best instrumental.
No worries. I just wanted to point that out to you.Nazulu said:Yeah sorry I didn't make it clear, I meant the instrumental at the end of the song is their most famous. I don't even know what side you're arguaing for 0.0.GenHellspawn said:To the Megadeth vs. Metallica debate, all I have to say is this: United Abominations.
That is all.
Well, I can see how you thought that. Anyways, I thought that it was a great album, one of those rare ones that don't have songs that you don't like. I said it because, for all my ignorance of Metallica, I've never seen them make any album that good.Dys said:I don't even know what side you're arguaing for 0.0.GenHellspawn said:To the Megadeth vs. Metallica debate, all I have to say is this: United Abominations.

I liked united abominations and bought it on release, but it has nothing on some of the better albumns from each band. Is that like a comparison of their new releases, because I'm not sure I see the point of that.
I am a metal head but I like all kinds of music. Usually when something is mainstream it's because it is the best song that is out at the time. Don't compare the mainstream crap you here today to the best songs in the world in the 60s, 70s and 80s, it's all opinions but 'One' is my one of my favourite all time songs and therefore it's great!Asymptote Angel said:Both are mainstream, and therefore not good. Start thinking like a metalhead.
If I had to pick one of the two, I'd go with Master of Puppets. Just a personal preference since I like fast-tempo songs. My favorite Metallica song of all is Dyers Eve from AJfA, in case you were wondering.
Also, MoP is less mainstream than One.
Nazulu said:Good day you lot, this debate just broke out at school on Metallica and a comparison between their 2 most famous songs, Master of Puppets and One.
Master of Puppets: is basically an anti drug song and contains probably Metallicas greatest riff and one of their longest instrumentals. Released 1986 on their Master of Puppets album.
One: is about a soldier who lost everything in a explosion except his mind, another great riff but said to be Metallicas best instrumental. Released 1988 on their And Justice for All album, this also won an award!
Both are heavy metal songs and if you haven't heard them before your missing out, unless you hate metal music!
I haven't decided yet myself. Chuck in other Metallica songs you like or your favourite album, or where and when you first heard these songs.
Which was the first one you heard?Wasder said:You're asking me to choose? Why? I can't! Curse you!
