WIKI says... Metrosexual is a neologism of the 2000s generally applied to heterosexual men with a strong concern for their appearance, and/or whose lifestyles display attributes stereotypically attributed to gay men.

Im just curious as to how many people out there can actually be placed under this catagory. If you could, please explain why you picked YES or NO.

Metrosexual can apply to everyone. Gay men, chicks, even the little brother from Ugly Betty.
Its just that this gets stereotyped on gay guys.

Strong concern for their appearance? I thought being metro was just being "in touch with your feminine side."

And I don't believe all women are overly concerned with their appearance.

(I put sometimes, btw, but I ignore your definition and substitute my own. :p )

Well, I can say I am about as far from being a metrosexual as you can get. I don't even know how people can use mousse in their hair. I mean, wouldn't that make it all sticky? Plus, what would you eat for dessert?

We can thank people like Gackt and all those other pretty boys for the rise in metrosexualism.

Eh, the only real answer from me here is that I really am not into that sort of thing. That isnt to say that I dont express my feelings, I just don't have strong concerns about them or the way i dress etc etc.

Attributed to gay men? You mean attributed to stereotypes of Gay Men.

Personally I find Metro sexuality retarded, along with Metrosexuals.

Because it centers around stereotypes and that caring about your look makes you a sub culture.

Which it doesn't.

Hence, retarded.

I don't entirely understand how the term came to be. MetroSEXUAL? It's about being worried about your looks, right? What's that have to do with sexual preference?

I use Lush facial products and, I kid you not, 'fairy god mother' shampoo (fuck you, my hair is curly, if I don't take care of it I look like a toilet brush) but on the other hand I have one eyebrow.

That stretches from my face to my crotch. One solid stripe of hair. I am metromasculine.

The term was coined by Salon.com. They labeled David Beckham as the 'poster boy' of metrosexuals. That should give you a good idea of what they're talking about.

Apparently there's also retrosexual, which is the opposite of metrosexual.

Who the fuck cares, in reality? It's just another way to lump us all into one nice neat category. I use toothpaste, head & shoulders, soap, and mouthwash. What does that make me? Human? Semi-modern human?

Can I be a megasexual since I feel sex is awesome? There. New term coined. Someone put that in Wikipedia while it's hot off the press.

Id agree to that. So whats the female version of metrosexual? Supabarbie?!
I use facecream bt dont own or wear makeup. dont like the feel of being covered in crap that is designed to make my appearance fit stereotypes. im human i want some dignity. Dignity doesnt come from hiding what you are behind a mask.

I use moisturerizer, therefore I am metro. I'm metro and proud of it.

WE'RE HERE, WE'RE METRO, WE'RE ONLY KIND OF HETERO!

Seriously though, I think metrosexuality is about an attitude toward beauty regimes. I mean, I moisturize but I don't spend more than five minutes in front of the mirror so Iconsider myself to more of a metro-lite.

The original use of the term refers to someone who takes good care of their body and shows great concern for their appearence. That they love themselves first and foremost, and do their best to make sure they look good. Most women are, in the angle of wanting to look good, metrosexual to begin with.

As far as sexuality goes, most men are more on the tough, rugged, fuck how i look side of things, where as women are more on the delicate, clean, i need to look perfect side of things. The essence of homosexuality, as far as i can see, is acting like the opposite gender, thus a man who's like a woman in terms of concern for appearence could be presumed ot be gay. This is why metrosexuals are usually thought of as poofters.

Also, to Aries: anyone who gets offended at stereotypes is usually the kind of person to whom the stereotypes apply, to begin with. People who say 'labels are stupid' are the people who've been labeled and don't like it.
