Poll: Minecraft is apparently RuneScape.

Today, me and my friend got into a argument about Minecraft. His arguement was that Minecraft has worse graphics then RuneScape,you can do whatever you want, mine, and craft things. His argument was crafted (ohohoho) in about 5 seconds of me exploring. Never mind that 1/2 of the stuff in MC isn't in Runescape.

Obviously my argument was that Minecraft is nothing like Runescape, so the Escapist, is Minecraft trying to steal RuneScape's thunder?

Oh and yes, I do know that my friend has the intelligence of a slowly dying house plant.

I kinda like that Minecraft embraces its blocky nature, rather than Runescape trying to slowwwwly look like N64 graphics.

The big difference for Minecraft is it has a dynamically generated and enormous world, rather than respawning resources like ore.

A friend of mine also said this, he thought Minecraft stole from RuneScape because you can craft stuff in both games.

Having played both I don't see how they compare at all? Minecrafts a big creation tool of fun and Runescape was a suprisingly funny MMORPG. Yeah you can craft things in Runescape too but thats hardly comparable when its also done in an uncountable number of other games?

And, I can't stand the huge-parade of raging Minecraft fanboys who object to every-criticism even if they have no-proof to object with. So it'd be hypocritical to say "Minecraft's better than RuneScape."

As for your question ("What's better"/"Is Minecraft trying to steal RuneScape[']s thunder?"), they're completley different games in completley different genres made by completley different people. Although, if I had to -idioticly- pick one, I'd pick Minecraft. You just can't compare the 2. It doesn't work.

I can go to my fridge and 'craft' a nice salad... OMG! Minecraft AND Runescape both stole from my life! Sorry but pretty much every game ever has some kind of crafting in it, so your friend's comment seems a bit silly

Runescape is an MMORPG and Minecraft is what would come from a coupling of Lego and The Sims (the blocky part and the make-your-own-entertainment part). I don't think that they can really be compared.

They aren't even comparable. They both have generic names, they both have poor graphics (Minecraft at least has the good manners to still look nice despite this) and they both use ye olde weapons. Those are the only similarities.

YOUR friend is an idiot. Runescape is a pretty decent MMO, but an absolutely abysmal game overall. Lemme know when you need to buy the remaining 60% of content in Minecraft, including the ability to jump fences. Minecraft has smoother controls and is, well, a sandbox game. With four monsters. And five passive mobs.
