I don't know about everyone who is going to bre reading this but I've spent hours and I mean hours on some 8-bit game called Minecraft. And I need MORE! But it is still in Alpha(soon to be beta)and what I think is that once the full game with not many bugs is there- we should have a Xbox Live Arcade Minecraft. I figured out some reasons why as well. These are;

1. Control Scheme- Minecraft does not use many controls and it would be easy on the xbox controller and easier because of the quick looking around of the analog stick.

2. Multiplayer- Xbox Live doesn't always have the best servers for High end games but I think it still would be perfect with minecraft. EX: You can make private matches for you and your friends that you can pick up and load with those friends at any time. Just imagine Castle Wars with your Friends :p

EDIT: Okay instead of just XBL how about also whatever the Playstation one is called so everyone can console play it- but NO WIIS!

Noooooooooo.

It's supposed to be a PC game, it just wouldn't be the same on consoles.

Besides, everybody know PSN is where it's at :]

I'm going to say "no." Not because I wouldn't love to play it on XBL, trust me, I would... but because if it was put on XBL I think I could officially consider my life over. First I'd fail all my classes... get kicked out of my apartment... forget to eat and starve while trying hook up my 360 in a Starbucks or somewhere else with free internet. Yeah... seriously, it's working hard enough to ruin my life already, I don't want to make it worse.

so the only no's I see are because it is too addicting and spending days awake building a castle or because you don't have an xbox.... :/

Easier with a joystick? WITH A JOYSTICK?!

I vote no, just because you made that argument.

Why? It would fit better on a Wii than an Xbox or PS3.

Because of this.

OP's idea is flawed.

I can't say I would turn down an awesome game like Minecraft being on a console I can use on my bigscreen tv in a far more fucking comfy seat.

I suppose I'll say yes because it's a guaranteed moneymaker, it would be easy to get the control scheme over and it's just damn good.

Blah!
It's computer only for now, and I hope to keep it that way.
In the past I could point to minesweeper and the Console'ers would cower in fear!

Now when I do it, they go "What's that? Some new fps?"
But after minecraft came out, I had a whole new backup game!
Would you really take that away from me?

One of the main points of Minecraft is its constant development and frequent updates. (Not to mention the modding potential)
So just out of the gate you wouldn't be able to effectively put it on a service like that until it was done, and that time is a long ways away.

But other than that, it's not really a game designed for console controls, I think. It would take a pretty extensive redesign to get it feeling right, not to mention the moments of hearing a hiss and spinning wildly around looking for the creeper would be pretty much gone.

Do you really want to put Minecraft into the cesspool that is the entirety of console multiplayer? Do you really want to have that happen? Right now, there really aren't THAT many trolls in Minecraft, and most people are pretty friendly towards newbies.

Every experience I've had with console multiplayer ended with me quitting because of the idiots and assholes. Perhaps you've had better, I don't really know. And although the control scheme isn't that complex, it definitely fits better with a mouse and keyboard compared to the controller. Plus, I don't really see it fitting into the console scheme, as it isn't really competitive. You just...build and have fun.

Well if my friend could play with me, like I am on PC and he is on 360 or PS3, that would be pretty cool.

On paper, the idea sounds pretty great: More business and an awesome game for cheap on your console. I don't think it would work well, though. As a few people have been saying, the updates wouldn't transfer well with either console's online format. The control scheme would probably be awkward for those that play the PC version (although the people willing to buy it for their console wouldn't mind, obviously). The best option would be for Minecraft Classic; a basic, non-multiplayer version of survival rather than the creative mode. Seeing as how that's free now on PC, and would cost a lot to redo for the systems, I don't see that happening...

Minecraft is programmed in Java. I don't think that's supported by any current consoles, and porting it would cost far too much to make this really viable for an independent dev.

Analog controllers are easy to use, there is no denying that. Easier than a mouse is disputable.

But this whole argument is also about games being exclusive. Why should we care what console a game is on? If it's on all three we get to pick our favourites and everybody wins. But, if it's only on one or two, our choices are limited and there will always be people losing out. Ultimately, it's all down to the hardware needed and the net profit. Not out personal preference.

If they can bring it to all four major platforms why the fuck shouldn't they? Not because you hate Xbox or the Wii, that's for damn sure.
