Since I havent actually played Mirrors Edge my opinion may be a little bit biased. But I have played BG&E and can tell you Ive rarely had a more enjoyable (albeit frustrating at some parts) experience on a third party game relatively few people seem to know about. A genuinely gripping story, stealth sequences if you really feel like it (I didnt once I found the disc launcher), simple yet creative puzzles, auto jumping ala LOZ, flowing combat system if somewhat basic, and my god some truly epic music. So yeah, my votes on Beyond Good & Evil.

Beyond Good and Evil if you appreciate pure gaming art.

Mirror's Edge if you want frustration punctuated by brief periods of fun.

Well Beyond Good and Evil is a much better game overall. While mirrors edge is good too, I played it a couple of times at my friends apartment and I just kind of forgot about it quickly

BG&E. Mirror's Edge is not that great of a game. It's short. There are no extras. The combat is terrible. The guns are terrible. The levels are decent but have some severed flaws.

Beyond Good & Evil.

I own both games, and I can honestly say that Beyond Good & Evil will get you more playing time than Mirror's Edge will.

It's a better game overall.

Beyond good and evil, cheaper, longer gameplay, basically more bang for your buck. Mirror's Edge if you don't mind having a platformer in FPS mode and that guns barely help you at all. It's like the only game where it's more efficient to melee than shoot a gun in the head. Oh and ME has everything pointed out to you unless you're atually running which is the purpose of the game...

I've beaten BG&E and am currently playing Mirrors Edge. BG&E was a much more satisfying game, even if a little predictable.

Also, I have a fairly good system and Mirrors Edge stutters on my machine. The same machine that didn't stutter playing MW2 and quite a few other recent games. Mirrors Edge is a year old? 2?

I say Beyond Good and Evil

Mirror's Edge was good but it has some major issues that I hope they'll fix in the next one.

BG&E.
They're both great games, but BG&E lasted me longer, had me more immersed, and has an epic soundtrack.
Christophe Heral is a true artist (he's the one who made the BG&E soundtrack)

Laugh at the french all you will, there are some things they can do right :p

this one still sends shivers down my spine, from 1:00 on

I hope you realize that these two games are radically different, right? BG&E is more of an adventure game with a long storyline and some crappy combat, whereas Mirror's Edge is a bit like a racing game but with a semi-fleshed out plotline and some more crappy combat.

I never finished BG&E because of an irritating flickering glitch that got out of control at points, but I enjoyed what I played. It should be quite cheap nowadays though 'cause its old.

Mirror's Edge I played on the PC, so it might be different than the 360 version. It was by far my favourite game of the year up until DA:O came out, and I will defend it to the grave, mostly because of the spectacular art design and the platforming which worked so well. The best part was playing the timed runthroughs after finishing the story, although some of the longer levels are a bit intimidating.

My advice is try to get both at lower prices, if you can't, try to get ME for the PC, and if you're comp can't run it, then get BG&E because I can't imagine controlling a 1st person platformer with a gamepad could be very intuitive.

I fucking hated Mirror's Edge. I'm not saying it's really bad compared to how many crap games are in existence, however the controls were awful. When you're doing speed based free running you don't put wallrun and wallclimb on the same damn button. Also the sheer laziness in the cinematics showed just how much effort they put into the story (read: none). There were also too many trial and error sections, where my sense of speed was stopped by the fact that 10 minutes had passed and I was in the same fucking room.

I never finished Beyond Good and Evil, but the parts I did play were miles better than Mirror's Edge. Ubisoft FTW.
