So, I was in a rough car accident and I have not been on the site for just over a month because of it. Makes me wonder about other peoples hiatus' be them forced or voluntary. So Discuss things like how long, why you had to take a break from the site.

Other thoughts: So Gaming wise I know I missed the release of Bioshock infinite which I figure was a generator of some content., Have I missed any site centric events of interest in the last month?

Welcome back.

The only major thing you missed, I think, was that <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/top-5-with-lisa-foiles>Lisa Foiles' Top 5 series has returned. That's kind of important (and awesome).

I hope the recovery from your accident has gone, and continues to go, smoothly.

I remember your name and avatar, can't recall any particular posts... the main site news you've missed other than the return of Lisa is the promotion of Copper Zen, Topazfusion and Escapegoat to mods of the Escapist after calls from the community for more moderators (though three inactive ones stepped down at the same time). Oh and Vault101 was banned, triggering a wave of protest from many quarters.

I don't deliberately take breaks from this site, I just ride it in waves. I'll go on a viewing and posting spree (spree relative to the amount I post on average) for a few weeks then ignore the forums for a week or two and come back to restart the cycle.

All the best in your recovery.

Welcome back.
OMFG!!!!!!!! Someone finally listened to me after all the complaints I made of "If your going to do a top 5 you need to bring Lisa Back"

Other thought: It is strange to me, It wasnt until she was already gone I developed an appreciation for her quirk. Sort of puts her in a similar realm as say Jenna Marbles. So I am glad to see her return. And besides that, who can resist a natural ginger girl?

I always thought Vault was an alt account for someone equally as "known" I guess I would disagree with Vaults banning though I cant speak to what caused Vaults path of progressive discipline. What I know of Vault was someone who would vehemently defend a position, which is what the site needs and I can get the outcry because the name was respected for such. But really if you have had multiple infractions and warnings you know you have to cool down your rhetoric or at least work to frame it more constructively. So I guess I can see both sides. However I think the forum suffered a greater loss than a benefit that was gained by the banning of the likes of less civil posters like Sober Thal or Mortai Gravesend both of which now also seem to be banned and honestly deservedly so in my personal estimation, though I hate to see it happen to anyone.

OTHER thought.

I am surprised by the number of posters who are not familiar with my thesis level scribblings. I guess I will have to chalk it up to some new faces, but more who dont like me and think I am not relevant enough of a community member to acknowledge, because I know I have pissed off plenty of people and I have annoyed many many more with aneurysm inducing wall of text posts that at least make me memorable enough to dislike. I am like the evil goateed opposite universe version of Aylaine. Instead of posting affirming helpful posts designed with an intent to help people share each others perspectives, I am a jaded prick whos posts work to break down commonly held ideas and make people consider the realities they dont want to accept. ( Or I am like Jim Sterling, before It was cool to like and agree with Jim Sterling)

Admit it... You know you all loathe me. ;)

Anyway, thanks for the update and I am off to drool over Lisa once more. Like I said, who can resist devoting attention to a ginger girl? Especially one trying to make you laugh and talk about gaming and geek culture ;)

I don't see it as something that's particularly shocking that even a prominent poster in these forums might not be recognised. There are a lot of posters here, in the hundreds or thousands even, and only a handful of them are really widely known by most of the community.

I think it's also pretty hard to get an impression of a person from their posts on a forum. Just reading some words on a page is so different from actually talking to someone face to face, no matter how brilliant and entertaining those posts may be. Also, I don't know if this is a thing that most others do, when I read posts on forums I don't really make an effort to actually see who posted them. I just read the conversation and respond. I'm only really paying attention to who they are if I'm actually having a back and forth with the same person.

I also personally came back from a hiatus recently. One I went on voluntarily. I actually wasn't intending to come back, but I did anyway. I was gone for several months.
