Well there is a new MMO without healers on their way... don't know the name.

Ya I always hated being the healer because you are such a useless ****, you haveto fully rely on others and should they ever die you are always to blame... bonkers I tell you.
Guild Wars had a good system of companions(i.e. bots) that you would just bring with you so noone hasto suffer the horrid classes.

Guild Wars 2 may have done away with a healer class, but they replace it with other support classes like the guardian. So conventional healing is gone, but there are valuable support classes that would require a degree of skill to use properly in a somewhat similar manner.

One of the behind the scenes video or something like that on Guild Wars 2 they did say that the Monk will no longer be in the game.

I quite frankly glad that class is gone since I was bored as hell that the whole party got to had two (I used to played it). The harder the missions were the more the team had to rely on the Monk to show up at the post.
The second to last mission on Nightfall was so hard that as soon a monk appear the entire teams in that outpost would invite him/ her so they were only few of them. I even had to wait for hours for them to appear on that mission...

So overall good riddance to the Monk and bring on Guild Wars 2!!

As much as I appreciated having a good monk around in the first Guild Wars, I loathe playing support classes with a fiery passion - way too much micromanagement, and while you're relied on and needed you generally don't do anything useful directly, somebody else has to do things for you and you just facilitate that.

More power to you if that sort of thing is your bag, but I play games to do cool stuff, not to stand around buffing/healing other people while they do cool stuff; playing or needing to rely on monks/healers/whatever you call them just isn't very much fun at all for me, and I suspect most of the people who don't just instinctively roll up support classes feel likewise. Ergo I fully support this move by ANet to move away from the MMO "holy trinity"

...and since they're actually on topic, I feel obligated to use these comics now, heh.

I LOVE playing the healer in MMOs! I won't touch one without a healing class.

I think my personality has something to do with it, but I find it more rewarding to be the support of a whole group and help people than kill enemies. Call me a pussy, I guess. I also love being a scarcity since a lot of people don't play healers, makes it easier to join groups.

So yes, I am against this decision 100%.
The big difference is removing the Heal class, and instead allowing having Support. This is different is terms of being Proactive vs Reactive. Reactive covers Healers. The idea is you wait for something bad to happen, then heal up the damage. Proactive is about throwing out protection to stop the bad thing happening.
Pure Healers represent a terrible way of looking at combat : looking at health bars and making sure they are high enough.

It also makes each party member able to be diverse. Sure, you can have someone invest heavily in support while another goes heavy damage, but each person with a single task to do makes the experience boring.
I can agree with that, I ended up quitting WOW because all anyone cared about in a Priest was healing output. I'd say you should do a little of both. Adding support spells makes a healer's gameplay more diverse and fun, but I still think that removing the responsibility of healing makes a support character more of a tag-along than an essential part of a party.

Honestly, I never found anything wrong with the tank/healer/dps system. At least it forced people in a party to work together instead of just attacking all at once in a mob.

I hate having to rely on a healer. They are a problem in guild wars because without one fighting 2 enemies at once is pretty much impossible sadly.

I like that they are being taken out because most people don't want to be a monk and if they are they can't heal for shit. The npc monks just aren't smart enough either.

I'm a fan of support, preventing damage more than healing it. Each class has was of avoiding damage and a skill in the event that they get hit. Some of the preview videos are bad at showing the dynamic combat, people standing still and trying to just tank damage. There are a few good ones with the ArenaNet guys playing (specifically the guy that plays the thief) who flies around the place dodging attacks. So yes, good move

... That's like not having a tank class.

Kinda a silly idea.
I'd like to see the specific tanking classes done away with as well. Let every class have some way of dealing with aggro - armour, evasion, stealth, feigned death, use of cover, magical shielding, bursts of rapid healing, redirecting damage to something else, etc. The Holy Trinity has done it's time, it's really time to look at classes anew and try a different direction.
