I'm aware of the difference between fighting and griefing. Being a member of Goonswarm I'm very familiar with both. The Eve player base (which is horrible) would make anyone want to be a griefer in between all the wars of conquest.
Yeah, I've heard pretty horrible stories. Although, I am pretty excited about Dust 514. It seems interesting enough, and from what I understand, it will have repercussions in EVE Online.
'Cautious optimism' is how I would describe my feelings towards Dust. I hope it works, and doesn't faceplant on launch, but I'm not going to put all my money on an FPS designed by people who have never made anything but a spaceship MMO before.

I play a mission in STO about once a week, but I check in every couple of days for DOFF assignments. I don't have the time to make any subscription game a worthwhile investment, it is just wasted money for me. STO is pretty solo-able, F2P and I'm a bit of a Trek fan, so it is a good fit for me. Also the space combat is tolerable. I've dabbled with LOTRO F2P but at the time I was a bit fantasied out.

If you want to look outside the MMORPG genre and just consider MMO games, Planetside was awesome. I have every hope that Planetside 2 will be just as awesome. Fingers crossed for an Oceania server.

Don't really play MMORPGs any more. Not necessarily because of the grind and all (well that's certainly part of it) but mostly because I'm just not interested in RPGs at all any more. I prefer action games where I have to think and act quickly on the fly, and MMORPGs just weren't doing it. I play a lot of Spiral Knights though, so that might count.

I'm currently playing Star Trek Online although I'm swiftly getting bored of it. I have played DC Universe Online and Champions Online, but I got bored of both.

It was previously Warhammer online the age of Reckoning, then on to SW:TOR. Dunno if i'll stay with SW:TOR and go to guild wars 2 or not, but time and my interests will tell.

Mostly I think me and my best mate end up playing them because of a shortage of co op games. It's something we can do to spend time with each other.

I voted Runescape... But it's really more in a retroactive way. I swung between bouts of 'play actively for a month or so' to 'not even think about it for a year'. I had that sunscription thing for a while as a gift from a friend and I admit that was when the game became really fun for me. My options really opened up and it became a lot more than just 'mining for fish' as the joke goes. I'll go back to it from time to time and I can say that they've done a pretty decent job cleaning it up... Now if they could do something about those AWFUL advertisers in Lumbridge.

I've only played F2P MMOs so some of these may be a little obscure...

Maple Story - It was fun for a while, but I did eventually grow bored.
NeoSteam - Not that fun... Hated how few options you had in terms of class and customization.
Luna Online - Played it's Beta, had some fun. I liked how they designed everything but in the end I just wasn't that crazy for it.
LaTale - A blatant ripoff of MapleStory but perhaps my favorite and second in playtime. Before it fell out of my sights I had a really fun group I loved playing with and the game itself was pretty charming. Well... If you looked past the awful translations.
Wonderking Online - Another Maplestory rip off... I really didn't play all that long due to that so memory of it is a little fuzzy.
Spiral Knights - Actually pretty fun. I like the way they approached the MMO idea. I may actually start playing again, since it's still on my laptop and everything.

All in all I rarely stay interested in these for long since I don't tend to make many friends, when it came to Runescape and LaTale those were the reasons I stayed as long as I did. If I can't find some good friends to team up with I tend to lose interest. But there are some MMOs that look like fun and I would like to try if I get the chance.
