So since you play Sona I have to ask, what are her strengths?
I usually play Taric support and sometimes Shen support but I was looking to pick another one up and I do have her unlocked. She has never looked that great to me but I suspect it's because I play against bad ones. I had her in Aram once and did alright, but that was 2v2 aram so yeah.....
How do you build her and what skills do you focus on maxing? I want to try picking her up but am unsure how to proceed with her.
Her strengths are giving nearly endless sustain in lane with her W being smaller but still significant heals very often, having a super long range poke ability for harassment a decent speed buff but I max that last because it's the least important.
Her ult is arguably the most game changing Support ult in the game. It's a 2 second stun with pretty good damage that fires in a short range cone. You fire that into a full enemy team and you've already won the teamfight if your team knows wtf is going on.
Fun fact: There is no way to reduce the duration of that stun, yes even you Irelia with MT. It's 2 seconds of forced dancing so it goes through a loophole in that it isn't
technically a stun in the traditional sense.
I take a point in everything starting with Q then W then E put an extra 1 or 2 into W at 4/5 to beef up your heals then max Q, finish W then E.
I like to rush a Philo Stone just for the mana regen and the extra gold then get a Heart of Gold if you plan on getting Omen. Then get Boots of Swiftness because you don't need any of those effects on the other boots.
I tend to rush She-Shre-Shrel *sigh* Shurelya's Reverie [sub]thanks Google[/sub] for the health and the amazing speed boost active that stacks with your E for epic escape/chasing powers
Then just pick and choose random support items like Aegis for armour, Abyssal Sceptre for Magic Resist/Magic Pen
Oh I take those masteries that gives you 515 gold at the start of the game so I can get my Faerie Charm, a stack of wards, a smaller stack of Vision Wards to fuck with the enemy Support and a mana potion that I may or may not use XD
Her passive needs a mention, it's what gives her such hilarious ultility. Basically the last ability your used gives her a Aura that increases certain stats for you and people around you. E.g. W is armour and magic res, Q is AP, E is more movement speed.
The Aura stays until your use a different ability then the Aura switches. Every three ability uses you gain a Power Chord which empowers your next autoattack depending on which Aura you have active.
Blue is double damage, this is what gives her that deceptively good burst, Green is a percentage damage reduction on their attacks for about 4 seconds on whoever you hit with it (AD Carry pls) and Purple is a slow.
I use Blue most often just to destroy that pesky AD Carry in the laning phase.
I love an Ashe/Sona lane. As soon as your both hit 6 you can chain your ults together for impossibly long stuns!
I hate playing other Supports when I can't play Sona for whatever reason.
"See, if I was playing
Sona right now we'd be winning this lane -_-"
Fuckin' hate Soraka man... She's so bad!
