In my personal opinion the game was only good for the multiplayer. The story had way too many attempts to have "an epic moment." For example jumping off that building onto the ladder of a helicopter. Wayyy too dramatic. Plus the plot was plain terrible and unrealistic. Multiplayer is pretty good though, but gets boring.

These are none of the things I didn't like.

To me I loved COD4 because it felt perfectly balanced... as a level 5 I was killing level 30s and they only had a tiny advantage over me.
Dude, when i started playing MW2 i was a complete newbie to multiplayer FPS's as the last one i played was Mobile Forces and even i managed to kill lvl 60's as easily as i would kill a level 1. The difference between level 1 and 70 is how well you know the maps. All the starter guns are as good as the ones you unlock later on. Hell i am still using M4A1 (the starter assault rifle) at level 64.
Have you compared the Scar and the M4? I still use the M4 but the Scar is so much more powerful and more accurate with no drawback.

I think you completely missed most people's complaints. The issues are technical, lag and poor hit detection, as well as financial, overpriced map packs, etc.

I feel like I am sometimes the only person who reads those little things at the bottom of loading screens, which says "care packages don't add to your kill streak" as I understand it, you could get 1,000 kills with the emergency air drop and still need one kill to get a pave low but it would show you got 1,008 kills.

With this iteration the later weapons were so overpowered that as a low level you were relying on deathstreaks.

Then certain combinations of weapons+perks lead to incredibly overpowered kits.

That's what I hated.

Oh yeah also.

Who's stupid idea was it to allow a sniper to have a sniper and shotgun at the same time from start? Doesn't that completely defeat the point and drawback of a sniper?
Almost word for word this

What I liked about the other CoD titles was that each class had a weakness (Sniper - short range fights, SMG + shotgun - long range). But they changed the secondary weapons so these weaknesses can be removed - give a sniper a shotgun and an SMG user an accurate and powerful burst pistol.

They made it too easy to get kills and even easier to build up a killstreak without ever showing the enemy your face

That game has made me lose so much interest in FPS games now simply because everyone sees it as "the standard"

I found an article on here that is pretty old, so I don't think posting on it would be a good idea, lest you resurect it, but it has some good points.

Hm not true as such - Scar has a smaller clip by 10 rounds

But in support of your higher level superiority I will give you the example of the much hated 1887s - level 67 and very few weaknesses to them

i hate MW2 mostly becuase of the community and the unbalancedness......and the whole point of the MW games is to be REALISTIC, MW2 was not realisitc at all and bringing up the fact that "if you want realisim, join the army" is not a very good excuse considering one of the biggest selling points of the MW was the realisim......spec ops was fun if you could get a friend to play with you and i liked the campaign but after i beat it on veteran i didint find anything else fun with it.the campagin was also short and the multiplayer was unbalanced and full of glitchs like the models and the javalin glitch when it first came out..... personally i think that IW tried to see if they could get away with making a overall crappy game (campagin and spec ops were good but the whole game was basicly multiplayer) becuase they wanted to see how well they would do riding of the succses of the first MW.

again i don't hate COD or IW but MW2 was just a bad game and the first MW will always be better than it.

I'm sorry, but I feel that you've missed the point of the MW2 hate by a long shot. PC gamers hate MW2 because of the lack of dedicated servers. So much in fact that a large portion -like myself- have boycotted the PC version of the game.

Another thing that has angered the PC masses is the lack of the ability to lean around corners. Every other CoD game and MoHAA before CoD existed had this ability. While I myself don't really have an opinion on this situation, I think most CoD players have grown accustomed to this ability.

I am a bit confused however, where have you seen hate for MW2 over it's killstreak and weapon choices? The only hate I've seen is that while they attempted in giving the player a variety of choices, they did a pretty shit job of balancing the game so no set of choices is more powerful than another.

In CoD4, all the perks and weapon sets had a sense of balance. In fact, I myself found that the first sniper rifle that you start with to be my favorite out of all of them, either that or the R700 if I'm playing defensively.

IW.net is another big factor in the MW2 hate. To remove dedicated servers for this service was probably one of the major slaps to the face for the PC community.

I could probably go on for hours, but I won't. This has probably all been said in previous posts, so I'll leave it at that.

Holy crap, shouldn't have gone to work.... Yeah, there wasn't too much of a point to the thread to be perfectly honest. I understand all PC gamers viewpoints about MW2, seeing as how i started out a PC gamer with the original call of duty. i did notice a comment about the first CoD involving dropping a weapon when shot in the hand. either they were playing a console CoD, which i didn't touch, or were playing a mod, because you never dropped your weapon in single player. Apologies to those who i forgot to include on the poll for being a PC gamer, buying but bailing cause of no talent hackers, and people who never bought it. the last one i figured wouldn't have looked in the thread. They definitely did try to whore themselves out to as many people as possible, and that did cause problems with kits. I think the problem with the PC version was their logic that PC gamers wanted to play like it was a console, which i speak from experience is not the case. Killstreak complaint was focused on another post where they commented on the unlikelyhood of emps or nukes being used in small engagements. They definitely destroyed the whole PC setup, and i am glad i decided to skip to console for that.

And as a random side note to the SCAR-H M4 discussion, the M4 is good, but i prefer the SCAR, currently the only gun i have gotten Fall camo on (three times). Personally the smaller clip size forces me to aim better, and the iron sights are pretty good. You people all have done a good job not mangling the newbie expressing issues with the people that have complained (frequently during playing) about the game.

I thought MW2 was really bland. Would you like an assault rifle that has no kickback, but takes half a second to kill someone, or one with a tiny bit of kickback and takes 2/5ths of a second? Anything else was just underpowered.

World at War was much better. While less balanced than MW2, the variety of weapons and much more character made it more fun. Using a rifle at close range would get you killed and automatic guns were inaccurate (other than the MP40, which made inaccuracy a moot point). The campaign was also more fun and Nazi friggin' Zombies!

And there were less noob tubers.
