Poll: Modern Warfare 2 delayed until Nov 24

As a PC gamer I find myself rather immune to this kind of behavor, it's pretty damn standard. Yeah I get it Activision, you think we're all pirates and thieves, fuck you too buddy.

They have a good reason to think that a good deal of you guys are pirates. Namely, because a lot of shit gets pirated on the PC.

So is it any surprise when they want extra time to work on more copy protection?

Well it's not and that's what I'm saying. That doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. Personally I don't pirate games so rightfully I feel pissed off that game developers spend time and effort to treat me like a criminal.

I don't understand why they even bother trying to stop pirates. As long as games are released on PC and torrent sites exist, there will be pirates. I honestly can't see a solution to it that doesn't involve arresting 20% of the people who use the internet (my estimate at how many pirates there are).

Well it's not and that's what I'm saying. That doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. Personally I don't pirate games so rightfully I feel pissed off that game developers spend time and effort to treat me like a criminal.

I think there should be an attempt be developers/producers to make thir legitimate customers not feel like they're being treated as potential criminals. It's just not good customer service.

If they are delaying it, it has nothing to do with copy protection. Any copy protection will get broken. No copy protection that was ever invented has gone w/o being broken yet.

The only way to reduce piracy is to add value to the product. Like multiplayer, the servers check the key to see if it's valid. Sure there are cracked servers pirated players can play on, but there are a ton less of them & they wont have punkbuster and will be full of cheaters.

Or people, even pirates will buy games from valve because valve has frequent sales, like L4D for $15 & free content updates. People want to support companies like that, so they continue to put out good products.

Bottom line is people are more likely to pirate games that have more draconian DRM, 1 because they want to stick it to the company for their actions & 2 because they don't want the (usually more harmful the more intrusive it is) DRM on their computers.
Case In Point: SPORE. One of the most pirated games ever. Largely because of it's extremely restrictive DRM (& limited install policy)

If it's delayed & piracy is the reason; it's only to try to make people who cant wait go and buy it for a console instead. I'm sure they'll expect some to buy it again on PC because of the better graphics & controls too. Personally I'm just going to stay the hell away from gaming sites for those 2 weeks so i dont get any spoilers.

When I read the title I almost had a stroke. Yet another reason I'm glad I'm not a PC gamer.

And this kids, is why I hate console gamers sometimes. A large number of them are jocks who play a round of Halo or Gears, and start commanding the industry as if everyone who supported it previously was just guessing before. When FO3 DLC was delayed for PS3, I did not gloat, I was just as upset as my PS3 brothers. Or when BIoshock was delayed. Or when the L4D DLC had to be paid for on Xbox for crash course.
Why? Two reasons.
1. I am not a fanboy dipshit.
2. I have friends with every console, or own one myself, and therefore, I personally know someone who suffers from things like this.
Further salt in the wound, besides the afforementioned morons who say "YAY!!1!!1 XBAWX WINS THEN!!1!1!", is the fact that many delays are for piracy purposes. I am against any piracy, and the pirates don't even stop pirating. They jus tdo it more.
This news makes me dissapoint, because I see all the fanboys gloating like faggots, and because it shows IW forgot about the PC demographic that has supported them since CoD1.

Everything I've read recently about their business practices and Bobby Kotick is just appalling to me. I understand that Kotick is just doing his job as a CEO to make money for the company and help it expand, but I don't have to support them.
