I would love to see the story in MW3...

"Main character dies. You've been working with the bad guy all along. The other main characters die. Some more people die. There's a level in an orphanage where you kill some babies and frame it on the americans."

Every thirteen year old boy thinks the story is "GRAET33ST EVAR" and I die a little more inside.

I only played the single player of MW2 through on my roommates PC while he was gone for the weekend, with specific instructions to not go online on his account, so I didn't.

It was short and lacked LOGIC. So many times I was sitting there going "Wait, what?"
So somehow an INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST who is number one priority on the list of several countries walks through a Russian airport killing a bajillion people WITHOUT A MASK ON. Because he speaks English, and leaves the corpse of an American people assume it was the Americans.

Hold the FUCK on here:

1) He speaks NO RUSSIAN so people think he's American. Evidently the airport doesn't have security cameras, but have tape recorders set up all over the place? Oh wait no THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS because in the god damn mission briefing after that mission they show a photo of Makarov LIFTED FROM THE AIRPORT SECURITY CAMERAS. So the Americans have access to the security footage but the Russians, who CLEARLY know what Makarov looks like, don't? Might I remind you it's an airport ON RUSSIAN SOIL?

2) What does leaving the body of an American have to do with anything? If this guy is a CIA spy or whatever he's not going to be carrying around his god damn drivers license wrapped in an American flag with his republican party card all in his wallet - he's a professional fucking spy.

After this, I felt like the game was just taking a piss on me. The idea of "Let's see how much bullshit we can cram in here without our player base realizing it!" comes to mind. Really, I hated the game. I hope 3 doesn't come out or exist. I hope Activision get's suied, West and Zempalla make a new company and Bobby Kotick gets replaced as his shareholders lose all their dirty money.

There will be a Modern Warfare 3, unless Infinity Ward split from Activision somehow. But we won't be seeing it until next year - this is the year of Treyarch after all.

Well it's funny you should say that but Infinity Ward have been stripped of their ability to make any more CoD games, so the ex-CEO's pull off something special there may not be another MW.

I voted don't care, but I know there will be, Activision are that greedy and even if Infinity Ward isn't the developer, they'll throw it to someone else. They've got two seperate Call of Duty franchises already and are apparently thinking of expanding it even further. They are the new EA it seems.

I just want to get to the point where there are really GOOD alternatives to that game because, as riddled with bugs, glitches and covered in bullshit as it is, the gameplay is actually a lot more enjoyable than any other shooter I've played.

Bring on Medal of Honor, I really hope EA do this right and Dice don't make the multiplayer a clone of Battlefield.

Fairly sure there was one quote stating that IW had been removed from CoD with the exception of the map pack but cant find it now.

Wow, so much MW2 hate here. I'm going to be controversial and FUCKING ENJOY SOMETHING FOR ONCE. God, I thought I was a jaded cynic but you people take the cake.

MW2 was great and has moved something like 25 million units, MW3 is on the way for sure. Current rumours though speculate that with the current issues between Infinity Ward and Activision, the game might be made by the mysterious third studio Activision have allegedly brought on board. This might even be the reason IW and Acti are fighting - apparently part of the argument was Activision trying to overturn the rule giving IW exclusive rights to produce modern-day CoD games.

All rumour of course.

There are reasons why we dislike it. First, the story was just crazy and unrealistic, playing like something out of a McCarthy era James bond ripoff. The more open environments and respawning enemies were often annoying as hell because you'd sit there for ten minutes killing the same enemies over and over again until you think it's safe only for another platoon to materialize the moment you turn your back. The gameplay didn't feel as strong and fun and the story was off it's rocker.

I'm not a fan of FPS's, but seriously man. You want a realistic story in a video game? Let's look at God of War? He kills the gods. Bioshock? That's unrealistic in so many ways. 99% of games have an unrealistic plot.

I didn't really have a problem with the open environments or the respawning enemies, but your mileage may vary. And saying the gameplay wasn't as fun is all a matter of opinion.

I get that you weren't frothing at the mouth at how terrible it was, this was more aimed all the people saying that MW2 is the worst thing since the Holocaust. Because it isn't.

For me, this is the greatest example yet that huge sales don't mean excellent and brilliantly made game. MW2's campaign was OK just OK, nothing special, and they just seemed to go for the shock factor at every opportunity.

The multiplayer is also full of holes, with poor netcode, game-breaking glitches and of course something that Infinity Ward couldn't help but cater for: the online community of complete morons and bitches.

After playing the game extensively, I just really get the impression that Infinity Ward did fuck all for most of the development 'cycle' and then just went "oh shit" with 6 months to go and finally got to work.

There must be games that are better made than this.

I've played enough CoD games that I doubt I'll buy it. It's all kinda the same now, I may as well just pop in MW 1 and play through it again. Unless they really try to do something different, like have you play as the terrorist and blow up the Statue of Liberty or something. That, I'd buy.

To be honest i don't care if they do or not, MW2 finished with the possibility of another game, but i couldn't care less.

At the end of the day you control a generic marine in different countries shooting slightly different costumed baddies in the face.

The multiplayer is pretty much the same as every other FPS ever, exept that people take pride in the fact that they got back to level one again, then they try to do it again.

As you can see i don't like FPS's that much.

It is a new name for anything that explodes in the most ridiculous of manners.
The term 'Baysplosions' was born out of Michael Bay's 'Transformers' which features a LOT of explosions.

Or at least, that is what I've worked out from the various comments around here.
