"Good" and "bad" are more opinionated... I just go for whatever seems right, regardless of whether it seems "good" or "bad".

I normally choose good characters because I'm a wuss in real life.
Although I may make a second playthrough as a psychopath.

It is almost painful for me to do the bad things. I feel bad when I do it. Besides, in my inner story I am always the hero, let someone else be the goat!

Mostly the Riddick/Snake Plisskin route. Usually I will help somebody if there's a reward, then afterwards I kill them and take their stuff.

Sometimes I take the Malcolm Reynolds route. I'm here for me and mine.

Random. My first character on KOTOR was evil. So evil I broke my game when I slew everyone on Korriban that I could (they wouldn't let me rule, and got pissed when I demanded it and attacked. It was all over for them)
Other games, good first time through.
Other games, random as hell.
Other games...you get the idea.
Then play again and try something different.

Well i just do what i feel like but if someone i like or feel that what happened to them was really unfair and out of there control i will do good things for them.

My 3 rules of life
try to take my weapons away and i will shoot you
try to kill me and i will kill you
stab me in the back and i stab you in the back but less metaphorically.

If the game is good enough I play multiple times and make different choices. I used to be all goody-shoes, but recently discovered the joy of playing a bad mofo.

- You know who runs this place? You think you can take everybody out?
- Maybe not everyone, but your balls? Definitely.
- AIIEEEE!!

- Do you enjoy genocide, Shepard?
- Depends on the species, Turian.

Comedy gold.

All bad...
I can be good IRL; you know, I do volunteer work and stuff.

But being really bad, that's stuff only for games. Unless you like being in a prison?

Most games make the story based on a good character. Most evil actions feel tacked on as well.

I have yet to play a game with a morality system where being evil is really worth it.
Yeah this too. I for one usually pick good, because there's better stuff for the good folks. A notable exception is in Dragon Age, when

You put together the things-in-a-bag down in the Deep Roads, and killing the demon gets you nothing of real value (maybe just some +Like points from someone) but letting him go nets you a fat stack of gold pieces

I generally play both sides of the coin just to see if anything is different overall through the gameplay. Pending on the game I usually go evil first (only exceptions have been KoToR and Fable) just because its so much more enjoyable.

on the first playthrough, good with some crazy-bad times.
There are just some moments that are too good to pass up, where you can be SUCH a dick to someone that you wonder how I could not.

Then on the 2nd playthrough, I have a better reference on how much it sucks for the people when I know the good things that COULD have happened to them.

I'm good, baby! Hell, I even feel pretty bad if I kill an innocent batch of pixels during a shoot-out or magic-out or blade-out or whatever.
