So I just completed the game's story mode and I gotta say it was damn good. I loved the seamless transitions into the fights and they voice acting was pretty good. It managed to keep me interested....then the ending happened.

I'm not even sure if it's the ending I wasn't a fan of but the events leading up to it. Sindel comes out of nowhere and just kills everyone. Just about everyone. The game ends with only Johnny Cage and Sonya alive. I'm wondering if it was all intentional so they didn't have to make a sequel but damn I didn't like it.

So did you guys like it? Dislike? Don't care?

Liked the story up until the end where Sindel does exactly what you just mentioned she does. It just seemed silly to see all those skilled fighters killed that easily. I get that Sindel is really powerful, but still, the whole thing seemed ridiculous. It was definitely funny though, so I still enjoyed the scene.

Remember, she was infused with the essence of Shang Tsung, which did not happen in the original canon.

That made her far stronger, and part soul stealer as a result.

Story mode was awesome for Mortal Kombat. I've played through it roughly 3x now, once for myself and twice more helping others.

I do agree though that I wasn't too happy that only Raiden, Sonya, and Johnny Cage (of all people) survived. Even the death of one of my favorite characters, Shang Tsung, it just kinda.. happened.. and that was that. They've could've done a better job in that respect.

Overall I thought it was great, just wasn't pleased about the remaining 'Kast' by the end of it. Technically almost all of the bad guys like Kano, Reptile, Cyrax, Sektor, Goro, Kintaro, Sheeva, etc. all seemingly survived by just staying k.o'd or out of the picture all together.

Surely they can't think of rebuilding from this reboot with most of the POPULAR light side characters being dead. MK reboot II Kast: Sonya, Raiden, J. Cage, Jarek, Darrius, Ashrah, Bo Rau Cho, Shujinko, Li Mei, Dairou, Hotaru.. and ugh... TAVEN... god no, I surely hope not.

Did not want to make a sequal!?!?!?!?!?! Did you totally MISS Quan Chi and Shinnok talking about the plot of the sequal? Someone needs to go play MK4.

I am mixed about everyone dying. On one hand almost all of my favorite characters died. Smoke, Kitana, Jade, Noob...but on the other hand, I am curious as to what will happen? But this mainly matters if they stay dead. MK is notorious for loopholes and ressurections (see Johnny Cage, its likely a intended joke he lives this time)

So if they stay dead, it changes alot of what will happen. Maybe Bo Rai Cho and Kai will become more important since Bo lost his best student and Kai is now the top Shaolin Monk. Jax is gone, so will Cyrax still get saved? And Edenia. Will Tanya and Rain use this time to easily further their goals now that the royal family (Sindel, Kitana) and Jade are gone?

What about Onaga and Shujinko? (Deception Conquest mode) The events leading to them start before even MK1, and maybe now Onaga wont come bacn and Shujino might not get so old. And since they prevented Armaggeddon, what will Daegon do? Will Taven wake up?

Trust me. There is still atleast 3 MKs left to make. Minimum.

Though they are setting up the Netherrealm invasion with Quan'chi and Shinnok for the next game (if it happens), so I'm sure they'll contrive some way to recover the souls and bring back some of the cast, somehow. I liked the story quite a bit though, threw some fun twists into the old MK story, as much of a story as it had anyhow.

Oh come on now, it's a fighting game, the "story" was probably written on the stall of the companies shitter, then the boss got a glance and just went with that.
