You know, I was just thinking about this a while ago, and don't think of this as me trying to be negative, because I'm actually complimenting this guy, because there's one man who I think without his existence, gaming would not be as big as it is today.

Shigeru Miyamoto

Really, without this man, I think Nintendo would have died out around the NES/SNES era.
He's made some of the most famous game series' in existence, including Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and F-Zero.

Really, Nintendo's most famous series without this guy is Metroid, and without all his series', Nintedo probably wouldn't be with us today, and without the impact his games made on the public, gaming might not have evolved to this point without him.

So, what do you think? Do you think this man is the most important man in gaming, or just another game designer?

I am the consumer, surely I am the most important part of the gaming industry.

Edit: I just dragged myself out of bed after 13 hours of sleeping, pardon me doing a poor job of reading properly.

Most important MAN, consumers can be females :)

Edit: Nice point though :D

Personally I think it would be Mario, for being a mascot for bringing gaming to the masses, even though I hate him :)

Without Nolan Bushnell there would never have been games you play at home in the first place, so I'd put him above Shiggy. Miyamoto's games may have saved the industry, but Bushnell got everything started.

I don't know. Yokoi is certainly up there, but I'd reckon it's ol' Shigsy.

I don't know really, I think he held the spot a while back but right know he's being overtaken by people who developed the origins of the FPS and RPG as opposed to the platform / puzzle games. I don't really like it but hey.

I have no idea who he is. "Gaming" is a very diverse thing. To some, sure, he's important. To me, he's a nobody.

Personally I'd vote for the Doom guy. Or Black Isle Studios. Or whoever was in charge of Apogee.

You've never heard of the creator of the Mario games? The most iconic game franchises in the world? What rock have you been living under?

i'm sry i'm an actual gamer, if nintendo had died out at snes, you have no idea how happy i'd have been, that's where it should have ended, all nintendo is doing is catering to children, grandmas, and people who don't game, and right well shouldn't, casual gamers are the one thing i can't stand...at all.

Why? How do they affect you in any way?

the motion controls are becoming too popular among casual gamers, making real consoles want to do it, now all the games will be motion control, which sucks, like i do everything else, i don't wanna jump around, i just wanna sit down and play an rpg or shooter

Yes, because all conventional controllers are going to be discontinued once the motion controllers hit the market and all games currently in development that will be released from that point on are being modified so they only use them.

not saying that, but most games will try and use this cheap gimmick to try and attract more customers, which will be casual gamers, and the industry will slowly try to adapt to them to make more money, making hardcore gaming obsolete in later years to come

oh plus, i don't have to verify why i hate something, sometimes it's just something you don't know why..it's just there, like twilight, or justin bieber, although we pretty much know why we hate those.
