ok. in most RPG's you get the power to customize your characters ability's to suite your fighting style. but im pretty shure we all have a favorite stat the we like to max out. ( or make as high as possible ) weather its your ATK and getting to watch the bosses head fly of in one ATK or MP and getting to shoot lasers and swords out of your eyes, we all like one or two the best.
so i wanna know, what's your favorite?

mine are HP and DEF, love both. im a surviver!!
Edit: added a new poll option, so start talking!

ATK and HP, with a little DEF. In other word's I'm usually a walking tank man.

Edit, The sentences after each stat on the poll made my day.

I would say, that the combination between ATK and DEF would definitely yield the best results. Although you would be so attached to your gear - it would still obliterate you in seconds.

Define MP? Are we talking about a pool of energy you draw upon to cast spells which increases when your MP does or a stat which actually makes your spells more potent (ie. more MP=your fireball hits for one jillion damage)

It depends on the system. If speed affects turn frequency, or significantly affects how fast you move/attack, then that's the top stat. Badge points ala Paper Mario are also high on the list, but there's pretty few games with a similar system.

Beyond that, whichever stat lets me take out random battles with ease. If it's easy to boost attack to kill the enemies in 1 hit, I do that; if I can easily boost defense to make them do next to no damage I prefer that; if there's a trick I can use to ensure surprise to wipe out enemies before they can attack I use that.

HP and MP are generally low on the agenda. Sucking up large amounts of damage is worse than not taking it in the first place. But, again: It's back to the individual game's balance.

i mean the basic points used to use special's, for EX this atk costs 30 mp or this spell costs 25 mp.

CHAR - Charisma

Why fight when you can talk your enemies out of it?
This is also my favourite stat in a RPG. In a RPG I am always a good character (First time around anyway) And how else can I get everything cheap without painting the shops walls a nice shade of red.

Helps when your getting attacked too when you can just talk enemies out of attacking you or even telling people to help you.

None; only a poor warrior chooses one stat above the other.

But since this thread leaves me with no choice, I guess speed. In Fire Emblem rules, your opponent will stand still whie you double him.
well i just mean choose a stat just as a favorite stat, ps. Fire Emblem is ta besT!!!!

In which case, Charisma for the reasons people stated above. I'll get my party filled with fighters, but if I can't spin a fanciful silver-tongued story to keep myself out of trouble, then I'll be very disappointed.

HP. No matter what other stats you have, HP is what will always save you from random bullshit, which is bound to happen in most RPGs.

clarification required: JRPG or Western RPG?

despite that i usually preferr spd(attack speed/dodge) atk(power/accuracy) and luck(critical chance).
strike hard, strike fast, and deal double damage. why have high hp if nothing has a chance to hit you? and hell they invented potions/stimpacks/medkits for a reason.

What is ATK? Is this Runescape or something?

Actually since technically RS is an RPG there is nothing wrong with that, but I WILL BECOME ANNOYED NONETHELESS.

Speed and strength, because running slow sucks, and when you get hit with an axe, it should realistically take out half your health.

I mean its a giant blade on a handle. Cutting through your flesh. And armor? It'll dent it, or slice through. Unless it's daedric. But there is no way the frickin' bandits can have glass and daedric while I can't. Unrealistic.
