If you where using nuclear bombs to make it. But the raw elements are just not there, Ok well they are but you would need to be successful 10 fold before it means anything.

I heard they are using 170 odd huge lasers to start the process now, supposedly the most powerful ever made... Colour me unconvinced haha.

You really have no idea how fusion works do you? Think of it this way you are not going to bake a cake when what you meant to do was make an omelet. You might end up with scrambled eggs but you are not going to get a cake.

And the closest thing to anything they mention that could cause fallout would be an H bomb. Witch only give off radiation because you use two A bombs to make it. And there is no such thing in that experiment. Your not going to poison someone with lemon water in the same way your not going to cause fallout with fusion.

Probably the complete breakdown of any semblance of human relations upon the worldwide realization of nihilism - perhaps just after societal systems have their inevitable collapse, buckling under their flaws. The masses will break into war and anarchy or simply lose all will to live, letting themselves, those who rely on them, perish. It'll be up to a few aware individuals to ride out the storm and build a new world after.

Or maybe not anything so dramatic and sudden - probably more like a continuation of the same slow rotting descent into that same nihilism that's already happening.

That's a hell of a lot more frightening and real to me than any of these silly "catastrophes" listed above.

Edit: Now that I think of it, the moment every human being seriously accepts one of the above sorts of endings to our existence, THAT would effectively mark the end.

Obviously that didn't happen despite the warnings of Threads, Sun Ra, and Sting. Now I am inclined to agree with Eliot the world will end not with a bang but a wimper. I'm going to go with climatic disaster ie. an Ice Age.

Also, go outside, find a few random passerbys, and just look at them. I mean, really look at them. Do you really think that anyone is going to "imagine [them]selves in [their] hearts again"? Even if it's just enough for them to reconstitute themselves and recreate their bodies?
