The post says it all. I just dislike them. It wasn't a bad idea, and I'm not against the concept as a whole, I just think it's been poorly executed and its pointless. The wii mote handles like toffee, the Playstation move needs to callibrate every time I so much as breathe, and the Kinect doesn't have a controller (I know before you say it, that's the point).

Shaking a stick at a screen is not a positive step forward.

On a side note, congratulations to Microsoft for creating a motion sensor that works - even with its 0.7 mega pixel camera (low budget?)

It's just a shame you haven't got any games out for it =P
(with exception to some dancing game and some mini game...games)

Just make a sensor that works properly and then focus on software! ARGH!

I've never enjoyed them. It's apparently more immersive, but I find that - if anything - it makes me much more aware that I'm simply playing a game. One with shoddy controls.

I think it's less immersive because you don't have to consciously move your body in the exact position to get the desired effect, the immersion is then broken when it doesn't do what you intended

I don't mind motion controls.

....however I...may be using them differently than all of you >.>;

I never liked them i just can't see motion control being part of the core mechanic of a game like moving or shooting. what ME3 showed off at E3 is really the only way i can see it being used well in a non party game

This is not meant as a shameless plug, but I made a comic about this. It should describe my feelings about motion controls quite accurately.

So basically the jist of it is that I don't want to come home from work, just to waggle myself like a retard (excuse the semi-offensive term, but it was the most accurate) in front of the tv. I want to sit down, relax, and play a game with a controller, or possibly something of the like.

The day that they make some Kinect-like controller that can make me control stuff as well as Tony Stark does in his lab, then I'm all for it. Until then, there's nothing to gain from them.

I don't mind them at all. Some games really benefit from them, but on the flipside some types of games shouldn't ever get them. But I know I've had my fun with several Wii games, so yeah, I think they work.

No... I think they have their place.

Those dance games for example. Also, party games.

But for anything that involves or requires immersion, motion controls are a bad idea. Period.

On the other hand, I can see the appeal to new or casual gamers. Those of us used to our controllers and mouse & keyboard setups often don't understand how tricky it can be to learn all that crap when you're starting out. A lot of people will pick up a controller, get confused, fail horribly and then never pick it up again. For those people, the idea of physically performing the desired on-screen action is a lot more intuitive.

I think Kinect looks like it could make some cool things for motion controls. I can't wait for Child of Eden, for one. Voice control in squad based things like Mass Effect, for another.
And Fable: The Journey's magic system with kinect actually seemed interesting... If they would show us any of it, it would be better.

Also, where is that Sorcery game for the Move? That looked really cool. And it seemed to work well too. Is that out, or what?

Can't say I agree.

Move + sharpshooter + Socom 4 works really well and is fun to use. :D

the reason behind "low budget" 0,7 MP camera is that it is enough to catch your movements while don't ovewhelm the CPU.

OT: i also hate sticks i have one and i'm enough with it, maybe we need the POWER GLOVE? it would be interesting, also we wouldn't need sticks and low mp cameras, maybe combining them would be nice. what we really need is not the movement but the outcome, it would be awesome to feel pressure, maybe even pain when playing the immersion would be super good

They are crap. But I'm glad they exist since in the (near, hopefully) future they'll be awesome.

I like the SixAxis or what it's called on the PS3 controller. I still find it bad-ass having to turn the controller like a steering wheel in Heavy Rain during The Bear Trial. Hopefully they'll make motion controls better, but still keeping a good ol' controller. (Not a fan of Kinect and PS Move. The Wii is ok though as I can use half-arsed swings and such while laying on the couch playing LoZ: Twilight Princess) Wha? Don't look at me like I'm lazy, I play games to relax darnit, not to have a sloppy workout xD
