Mouse and keyboard. I jack off to the idea of killing NPCs with a single click The mouse has superior aiming and the key board just feels right for some odd reason.

Controller. Easily. The only thing I like a mouse for better is RTS games. Even FPS's I handle and play much better on with a controller

Depends on the game. I mostly enjoy games that are tailored to be played on a mouse. FPS games are mouse for sure. It really annoys the hell out of me whenever I play a console FPS with my friends, but I can put up with it. Although when playing fighting/platforming games, I'll use a controller.

Third-person games: Controller

First-person games: Mouse

The exception is games that are third person without direct character control (RTS, traditional RPG, etc.), those work better with a mouse. TPS games feel better with a controller. Not too fond of WASDing in third-person for some reason.

Depends. Love mouse/keyboard for 90% of the games out there. There are however games that require analog support that the mouse is not designed for where the analog control must move back to center regularly(racing, flight sim). I will use a controller of some sort for these.

I'm more of a PC gamer than anything else so I can say that the control with a mouse and/or keyboard is far better than one with a controller for most games besides maybe action third person ones with QTE's involved.

That's about it.

PC gamer at heart, so keyboard & mouse. However, I am comfortable with controllers as well.

I'm not especially fussed either way.
I quite happily switch between keyb/mouse PC gaming and console controllers.

so I always find that using a controller is much more natural then using a keyboard as I never have to look down to make sure that I press the crouch button not the grenade button (which would be followed by me hitting the crouch button and not the run for your life button). When ever I play a very combat orientated game on a console I find things to be very smooth and natural most of the time (when it isn't it is normally due to crappy button lay out), while on a computer it is very plain. Now of course this is biased as I have used controllers more then key boards and there are many that find keyboards to better (if anyone brings up shadow run (at least that what I think it is called) I am going to say it is one game).

I want to know escapist what to you like to control your games with?
It's mostly matter of muscle memory. I haven't played on consoles pretty much since first PlayStation era, if You would give me a pad now i'd have to constantly check if im pressing the right button.
Since i use keyboard not only for gaming but also for work i just remember the layout, i know what is where, i type without looking at keys and WSAD controls are natural for me. Another reason is i mostly play games designed with mouse in mind, strategy games, MMOs, economy sims, etc.
Even occasional first person perspective game just feels better with mouse precision over those annoying analog sticks, especially with mouse acceleration turned on. On top of that ever since i started using 'gaming' mouses i'm addicted to all those additional buttons on them and find simple 3 button ones unusable :p

I played a bit of Red Dead Redemption on my friend's PS3 once (btw, R*. PC port. NOW!) and I was playing some random mission, and at some point I was attacked by dudes on horseback. So, following my friend's instructions, I pulled out my Rifle, pointed it in the general direction of the rider and pressed Aim...

The crosshair became superglued to the guy's chest, and as he circled around me, it just remained there, perfectly in position. I looked down at my thumbs to check if I was somehow expertly controlling it by accident, or if someone else was controlling it.....but my thumbs weren't even touching the sticks. I fired, and the enemy went down.

In summary, are controllers supposed to turn shooters into Quick time events? If I wanted to play Heavy Rain, I would play that instead of....well, RDR? Seriously is it always like that, or was it a prob/setting on my friend's Dualshock? Cause if it's the former......BWAHAHAHA!

I like both but when I can I mix and match.

In Left 4 Dead I have a setup where I use half a controller for the analogue stick and a mouse for shooting. It works because of all the buttons my mouse has

Depends on the game. If the game involves a cursor with 1:1 movement, mouse/keyboard is superior, hands down. To anyone who thinks otherwise, imagine trying this [http://members.iinet.net.au/~pontipak/redsquare.html] with a thumbstick (my record is just over 27 seconds).

That said... I prefer a PS1 controller (I'm better with a D-pad than a thumbstick) for fighting games and platformers, a steering wheel and pedals for racing, and a joystick/keyboard combo for piloting sims.

Most of the time KB/Mouse, especially with FPS but you can't really play and enjoy stuff like TD Unlimited with a keyboard it's not much fun !

The X-Box 360 wired controller for windows is a godsend also things like Assassins Creed I find work better with the controller.

Mouse/Keyboard all the way.
I find that there's only certain types of games work better with a controller, mostly third-person action titles like Zelda, Devil May Cry or God of War.

I like keyboard and mouse quite a bit. I understand your problem, but it's more an issue with familiarity. I've been gaming with mouse and keyboard so long that I just instinctually know where the buttons are.

I prefer controllers, but I do think in Magicka a keyboard and mouse work better. And I really need keyboard/mouse when I'm sniping in tf2.

It entirely depends on the game, most FPS game i'll want M&K controls because they simply give you more control. But something like arkham asylum or super meat boy then I will use a controller.

99% of the complaints controller users have about M&K controls just boil down to practice IMO, if you use M&K lots it becomes second nature, you don't have to look at the keys and you don't even realise you're holding a mouse.. the cursor on the screen just becomes an extension of your arm.

Personally with a controller I'm constantly having to look at buttons or hitting the wrong ones or moving the stick in the wrong direction... thats not because the controller is bad its just because I have about 20,000 hours gaming with M&K controls and about 50 hours gaming with a controller.
