Poll: Moving avatars

I enjoy them, but I already have one that I like. I don't see any point in changing it.

Some of them are interesting, some of them are bloody distracting and annoying, and some are... oddly hypnotizing and you realize you've just spent 5 minutes of your life staring at a moving picture... wait, what was I doing again?

On the whole, I think I prefer my regular non-animated one, if only for all the messages I get asking me what it says, heh.

I'm keepin' it oldskool. But moving avatars are generally pretty cool and deffinately more visually engaging.

Your avatar brings back bad memories of fleeing slimes. The endlessly fleeing metal slimes.

OT:I like mine, i dislike the flashing or blinking ones, its why i asked for mine in slow mo. To have a subtle less distracting movement.

It depends on what I want, whether still or animated though, my avatars usually kick ass[footnote]ego showing[/footnote].

As for my thoughts, its all in what is in the avatar, not whether it moves or not.

I think you're one of the people who is allowed to say your avatars kick ass though. Seeing as you make them, and they are awesome.

OT: I have an animated avatar, but avatars can still be awesome if they're not animated though.
Such as child of lileth's and Legion's.

Furburt made my avatar and I love him for it and I'm legally obliged to mention him every time we talk about avatars. I was bored of my still picture of the Good Professor and Luke so I called upon him to make me this wonderful work of art.

I like it better than a still image, although I don't like the ones that will give people seizures. Which is a lot of them. Also, I really hate that freaking Lady Gaga one that everyone has...

I'd LIKE to have one, but I really love this avatar, and there's not much you can do with a grinning face beyond having it zoom in and out (which I don't want)

I fucking hate them and find them overly distracting.

Some of them are just a bit too creepy, I mean seriously Jim Carey + lady Gaga = donotwant

Other than that there are quite a few awesome ones around, my only complaint is that I swear I have spent more time than is healthy staring at the more mesmerizing ones. Oh and some of them are just too sezurerific.

I have one, both now and usually.

I like them myself, you can be very creative with them in a way that you can't be with still ones. I usually recognize people on avatars first, so having one that catches my eye helps.

So yeah, I like moving avatars.

Unless of course, everyone is using THE SAME ONE!!!!

But I digress,

I'd love to have a moving one, indeed the one I am using now should be a .gif, but for some reason it refuses to move Is there a size restriction of some sort, an option I am missing?

It really depends on the animation in question - anything that blinks, moves overly quickly or cuts to something different just looks extremely attention-whore-esque, in my opinion. Primarily because they move to a ridiculous degree, and at a speed that makes them displeasing to the eye.

Static pictures are fine, depending on what they are, but overall I don't judge people on their avatars anyway - only if I can remember said avatar - and I find it a lot easier to remember a still picture than a animation.
