They usually seem there as a way to go 'look at our multiplayer!', and then force people to play it. Sometimes this ends up being sodding awful multiplayer, or barren after 2 days due to everyone playing more popular games.

In the case of games that are obviously never going to have the multiplayer pull of CoD, Halo, Battlefield, whatever the current racing game is, it's a desperate attempt to drag achievement whores into a multiplayer section that, chances are, is only there because every game must have multiplayer now!

Because I like getting my Platinum trophies? If you clearly care nothing for Trophies or Achievements, why are you posting in this thread?
I was wondering about peoples rationale for getting them.

As an Achievement Whore Hunter, let me say that I hate all multiplater achievements. They tend to me more grind-tastic than single player achievements, on average. We would all be better off wothout them.

[sup][sup]Yeah, my Gamerscore isn't excessively high, but I think I've played enough to make a generalization...[/sup][/sup]
This. If they are only like "Complete 1 ranked match" or a Co-op game like in Uncharted 2, thats fine. AC Brotherhood cam go fuck itself if it expects me to play through all the way to Level 50 (The SP is fantastic, MP is...meh)
Yeah I am one of the ones who have the original 1000 in Fear 2. There is a special place in hell for devs who make stupid grinding online achievements.
I've heard countless stories of people spending hours grinding for the online achievements for that one.

Also, the Fable 2 hero dolls, you can only get them by trading with friends. Shit outta luck if I don't have Gold, isn't it?
Hours??? Per day maybe lol. The party I ended up with were doing it 8-10 hours a day for almost a month. It was crazy. It practically became a full time job in itself. A month of doing the hokey pokey with control points. One guy snapped his disc in half and sent the rest of us pics when he was done lol.

I did make a couple good xbl friends because of it though.

I like it when you have to perform specific stunts online. Like Battle Field run some one over with the Helicopter, that was fun. Killing 100,000 people no. Play 1000 games online,no. Reach highest level, no. Like transformers WfC. Reach a total level of 100. The game is laggy and the community is split thanks to the maps that Im not going to buy because the game lags out by the end of the match.

A good multiplayer game gives the player its own self contained rewards, such as new emblems or titles.

I put "don't care".

Unlike singleplayer games, I hardly go out for multiplayer achievements. I like them, it feels nice to get that achievement, but I prefer singleplayer achievements.

the only multiplayer achievement i hate are the ones that require incredible coordination such as "8 Players meet in the Wildcats' Baseball Stadium" from Burnout Paradise. Without actually calling up random people to try to get this trophy, it's nearly impossible.

I have a great dislike for them. The only games I don't mind them in are the ones that focus on online more than single player.

Multiplayer achievements suck, most people I know need to boost to get them. That is one reason why I love Dead Space 2, not a single mutiplayer achievement.

I'm not an extremely big fan of multiplayer achievements if they are extremely difficult/require some obscure strategy/weapon/anything. However, some of the easier one I don't really mind e.g. ones that you could potentially get during a normal multiplayer session.

I don't like multiplayer achievements, generally because after a while the multiplayer is dead and you have absolutely no opportunity to unlock them if you bought the game a while after release.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was particularly bad for this as the release had been pushed back so far in Europe the few players who were left were in Japan. I couldn't even manage to get the 'viewed a match online' achievement because of connection issues.

Also, after a while the online multiplayer of fighters tend to be populated with either hardcore players or people who will only spam the same move. Irritating.
