I was hoping for the Escapist forum users opinion on which concert I should go to.
I'm going to make you feel really silly, but you'll be glad I did. According to my sources...

U2 is on the 18th.

Muse is on the 19th.

Go to both. Have fun.

(I've seen both bands and I didn't like either, but then I'm not a fan of either so I wouldn't listen to my opinion if I were you)

Muse are by far the best band live in the world at the moment. I've seen them 11 times in 4 years, just saw them last Saturday, and I still want to go and see them again >.< I highly recommend them over any other band live

Here's what you do. Take both tickets, sell them, and go buy yourself a ticket to a Slayer concert and be a man while having one of the best times of your life! Gwar works too and is much cheaper.
What if he doesn't like Slayer? I KNOW, WHAT ARE ODDS OF SOMEBODY NOT LIKING SLAYER?!?!?!?!!?
I don't. Bit too heavy for me...

OT: If I had to pick one, Muse. Though I can honestly say I really don't give a crap about either band.

I didn't buy the tickets and both the tickets are for the 19th. I was told U2 sold out of 18th in an hour.

Although I haven't seen either (or in fact any) band live, I've heard from many sources that Muse are the greatest live band since Queen. So yeah... MUSE.
Now thats saying something.

Oh okay, so they booked a second show... well, frankly I think both bands are a bit of a waste of time live, letting their video screens and lighting effects do too much of the talking, but if I had to choose I'd pick Muse. U2 are so far past their peak it's like watching a U2 cover band, Muse at least are riding high right now and will probably never be this good again.

Well both of the bands are shit tbh. Go buy yerself and yer girlfriend a nice dinner at fancy restaurant instead of wasting yer money on mediocre crap.

Sell the tickets, build a time machine, and then go back in time and see Nine Inch Nails. Now THERE is the best live band in the world. O2 Arena on their final tour was probably the best experience of my life.

It's actually a tough call. I've seen both bands live a couple of times, Muse are great live but U2 I think care a little bit more about emotion during their songs - One, Bullet The Blue Sky, Still Haven't Found, etc. There's a real passion that you don't quite get from Muse's songs. Having said that, I'd probably go Muse anyway, just in case they play Stockholm Syndrome. They're super-fun onstage and put on a good show.
Well if I could do that I would do a great many thing like seeing both bands at the same time.

Anyway does anyone know anything about Trading selling tickets? I was wondering maybe I trade/sell the U2 ticket for an 18th ticket. I doubt my friend would be happy. So if I can't do it with both there would be no point in doing it

Having seen both, i recommend Muse over U2. U2 put on an excellent show though still.

That said, ideally what you ought to do is first build a time machine, travel back in time to their Black Holes and Revelations tour (or just any time before they released The Resistance) and see them then instead, because The Resistance and everything else post BLaR is shithouse.

Go see Muse they are great live, I was only in manchester this weekend seeing them. It's got a very good crowd atomosphere too, though I would expect U2 to also have that.

GO SEE Muse!

I think you meant to say: both bands are past their peak, but U2 have been past theirs for a substantially longer amount of time.

Yeah I kinda did mean to say that, but I was trying to be polite. Given that the OP actually likes both of these bands I'm doing my best to be constructive from his point of view, and keep my real opinion of them under my hat.

Muse are very very immense and brilliant live :)

When I went Matt Bellamy gave away his guitar at the end of the set... unfortunately I wasn't at the front to nab it :(

The value that guitar would have. I'm not at the front so I won't be getting anything. sure pays to be right in front.

Until I saw Mars Volta recently, Muse were the best live act I had ever seen (and i've been to tons of gigs)

If you go to see U2 you will regret it forever
