Aw man, I was getting all pumped for a theory quiz. I guess upbeat and fast, with my favorite genres (in no particular order) being classic rock, prog rock, power metal, thrash metal, prog metal, Jazz, and The Blues.

One of my favorite songs:

I like every genre, but usually listen to the genre i'm making at the time, so at the moment it's all about hip hop and while I don't mind slow instrumentals I can't stand slow MCing, it's sooooo boring (for proof see 50 cent YAWN)

Upbeat and fast.

Genres are classical and rock. I know, sort of a weird combo.
Not that weird, I'm the same way. They actually have more in common than one would think, especially when you start dealing with opera. They're incredibly emotional and raw styles of music that are performed best when you figure out its meaning to you personally.

Classical and rock go great together you are right, see Queen and Muse

I choose fast/ upbeat music and the genres I listen to (which are mostly fast or upbeat) are Dance (House) Music, Jpop and soundtract (anime or video games).

Both. A good album should have at least one of both - because making an album composed entirely out of either fast or slow numbers gets monotonous and samey.

What about fast/emotional? Or upbeat/slow? They do exist, and are a nice break from the norm. I'm gonna go ahead and vote both.

Why would I only like one type of music?
That would be horribly boring. I enjoy both speed metal and slow, touching, music depending on my mood.

The genres I enjoy the most are rock, metal, classical and jazz.

Both. Really depends on what mood I'm in. Mainly listen to Metal and what is generally considered "Aggrotech" (http://www.last.fm/tag/Aggrotech?ac=aggrotech)

Like what everyone else here mentioned it depends on my mood, but after looking at my massive music library I see a lot of upbeat/fast music. Kinda funny since I've been listening to a lot of slow/emotional stuff today, and it's not even noon, very curious.

So there ya go.

Both. I'm into a lot of heavy technical/progressive music, but I also like all kinds of electronic and classical music.

Examples being Meshuggah, Opeth, Gojira, Daft Punk (Tron soundtrack ftw) and composers like Howard Shore.

I think there are fair amount of people who have no preference over up or down tempo, but I could be very wrong.
I like classic hard rock and metal like Led Zep and Hendrix and so on but I also like more ambient or paced music such as Floyd and the very early blues.
Then I also like soundtrack, video games mainly, and with soundtrack my preferences are far more diverse as I choose to identify the tracks with memorable moments from the game. In terms of tempo, that could be literally anything.

But if you're looking for a straight answer, put me down for classic rock or blues.

It... really depends on the music. I like the slow emotional music, but only if the instruments interest me (violins = I need to change my pants). I like the fast upbeat, but only if the song is engaging and changes style or tempo at some point in the song.

If you don't understand what I mean for fast, listen to this.

See how it goes from the slower, imposing low sounds to the faster higher sounds? That's what I like in my music.

I'd say, generally, I listen to the upbeat songs more.

It depends. When I'm listening to Miracle of Sound's Press X To Rock and it goes from Santiago's Lament to I Suck at COD...well...yeah, those songs create a pretty big contrast. I like both though.

Generally I find upbeat stuff to be better car music, but if a song is good, it's good.

I'd have to go with both. I can easily go from listening to a classical composition to some melodic death metal.

With every such question my answer remains the same - good music. Genre or tempo doesn't matter.
